One Machine, Every Floor: The NaceCare Duplex DHB 420 Cleans Carpet and Hard Floor in a Single Pass

If your cleaning crew is still dragging a mop bucket, a disc scrubber, and a carpet extractor around the same building, the NaceCare Duplex DHB 420 is about to make your storage closet a lot emptier. This cordless multi-surface scrubber replaces all three, because it cleans carpet AND hard floor in a single pass. Same machine. Same brushes. No swapping heads, no changing settings, no pre-sweeping.

The secret is what NaceCare calls the Hybrid Hydrowasher system, which is a fancy name for a genuinely clever idea: two counter-rotating cylindrical brushes spinning at 750 rpm with 800,000 bristles between them. Instead of smearing dirty water around like a disc scrubber, the brushes lift dirt, grime, and the dirty water all in one motion, then drop everything into the recovery tank. Floors come out low-moisture and fast-drying, ready to walk on in minutes.

The 14-inch cleaning path covers 4,000 sq ft/hr (372 m²/hr) and cleans right up to the baseboard, so you're not coming back with a hand tool to get the edges. At 69 lbs (31.3 kg) with a bi-directional handle, it walks forward and backward with equal ease. It is a multiwash scrubber that actually earns the name. And because this thing is no lightweight for facility to facility transportation, you'll probably want the Duplex Trolley for moving it between floors or job sites. Your back will thank you.

The DHB 420 comes in two configurations on this page. The base DHB 420 runs cordless on a 48V Lite Battery for up to 50 minutes per charge. The DHB 420 Deluxe adds the H-Box corded power module for unlimited runtime AND a Steam Kit for chemical-free sanitizing. Pick the one that matches your cleaning program, or scroll down to the configuration comparison if you want help deciding.

The Duplex DHB 420's Standout Features

Cleans carpet AND hard floor in one pass with counter-rotating cylindrical brushes that work on virtually any surface, no head swaps required.
14-inch cleaning path covers 4,000 sq ft/hr (372 m²/hr) and reaches right up to the baseboard, so edges don't become a second job.
800,000 bristles at 750 rpm lift dirt and dirty water in a single motion instead of pushing it around the floor.
Low-moisture, fast-drying results mean floors are walkable in minutes, which matters when you're cleaning during business hours.
Cordless 48V Li-ion power delivers up to 50 minutes of runtime on a single charge, with a 1-hour full recharge.
Hybrid power architecture supports battery, corded (via the H-Box), and steam operation, depending on which variant you pick.
Bi-directional handle lets you walk the machine forward and backward with equal control, so tight spaces aren't a problem.
Quiet at 64 dB(A), which means you can clean in lobbies, offices, and healthcare hallways without clearing the room.
Compact 16.5 in x 16.9 in x 9.4 in (42 x 43 x 24 cm) footprint fits into storage closets, elevators, and under most fixtures.
Replaces a mop bucket, disc scrubber, AND carpet extractor, which means fewer machines to train on, store, and maintain.

How the Duplex Actually Cleans

Most floor scrubbers you've used are disc machines. A disc scrubber spins a flat pad in a circle, drops solution, and then a squeegee drags the dirty water into a recovery tank. That works fine on smooth hard floors, but it struggles on carpet, and it tends to push dirty water around before picking it back up.

The Duplex DHB 420 works differently. Two cylindrical brushes sit side by side and spin toward each other in opposite directions. That counter-rotation does three things at once: it scrubs the floor with 800,000 bristles, it lifts debris and dirty water up off the surface, and it throws everything straight into the recovery tank between the brushes. One motion, one pass, floor is clean.

Because the brushes lift rather than smear, the machine uses very little water. That's why it works on carpet without soaking it and why hard floors dry in minutes instead of twenty. It also means you don't need to pre-sweep. The brushes handle loose debris on the way through, so there's one less step in your cleaning routine.

And because the brushes extend right to the edge of the machine, you get full cleaning all the way to the baseboard. No strip of filthy floor along the wall where the scrubber couldn't reach. That alone saves your crew from having to follow up with a hand tool.

Cordless Freedom with the Lite Battery

Both variants of the Duplex DHB 420 ship with the 48V Lite Battery, which is a lithium-ion module that clips onto the machine and powers it for up to 50 minutes per charge. That's enough runtime to cover roughly 3,300 sq ft at typical scrubbing speed before you need to swap or recharge.

No extension cord snaking across the floor. No hunting for outlets in a building that was wired before you were born. Just pick up the machine and start cleaning. A full recharge takes one hour, so if you run two batteries on rotation, you effectively have unlimited cordless runtime.

Which brings us to the soft nudge: if 50 minutes isn't quite enough to cover your full route, a spare Lite Battery is the cheapest path to doubling your uptime. Swap in a fresh battery in about 10 seconds and keep moving. No plug, no pause, no problem.

Unlimited Runtime with the H-Box

The H-Box is NaceCare's corded power module, and it comes standard with the DHB 420 Deluxe. It plugs into any 110V wall outlet, clips onto the machine in place of the battery, and gives you unlimited runtime with a 40 ft (12.2 m) power cord. When your cleaning window is longer than your battery can handle, the H-Box is how you just keep going.

It's also the piece that unlocks steam cleaning, which we'll get to next. Steam and the H-Box are a package deal on this machine.

Running the base DHB 420 and wishing you had an all-day corded option without stepping up to the Deluxe? The H-Box is sold separately as an add-on module. Plug it in and your cordless scrubber becomes a corded one whenever you need it.

Chemical-Free Sanitizing with Steam

The DHB 420 Deluxe includes a Steam Kit with a 1,500W boiler and a 13 in (33 cm) steam jet that delivers high-temperature sanitizing without a single drop of chemical. Heat does the killing. That matters in healthcare facilities, food service kitchens, daycares, fitness centers, and anywhere "clean" needs to mean "actually germ-free" instead of "it smells like pine now."

The steam integrates directly with the scrubbing action, so you're sanitizing and cleaning in the same pass. No separate steamer to haul out, no dedicated sanitizing round after the scrubbing round. One machine, one pass, sanitized floors.

Important, read this part carefully: Steam only works when the machine is running in corded mode through the H-Box. Steam does NOT work on battery power. The boiler draws too much wattage for the Lite Battery to support it, so any time you want steam, you need to be plugged in. The Deluxe variant includes the H-Box by default, so you're covered out of the box.

If you bought the base DHB 420 and want to add steam later, you'll need both the Steam Kit AND the H-Box since steam requires corded power. Or, if you know from day one that you want steam, just buy the Deluxe. It's the simpler path and you get everything in one box.

Floor Types This Machine Handles

The counter-rotating brush design is what makes the Duplex DHB 420 a genuine multi-surface machine instead of a hard-floor scrubber that happens to tolerate carpet. Here's where it works:

Carpet: Commercial low-pile and cut-pile carpet, entry mats, runners. The brushes agitate and extract in one pass, leaving the carpet low-moisture and walkable in minutes. Think of it as a carpet extractor that also happens to scrub hard floors.

Hard floors: Hardwood, laminate, vinyl, VCT, rubber, linoleum, sealed concrete, and epoxy. The low-moisture cleaning method is gentle enough for finished wood and aggressive enough for concrete.

Grouted surfaces: Ceramic and porcelain tile with grout lines, quarry tile, textured stone. The cylindrical brushes work into grout lines where a flat disc pad can't reach.

Specialty surfaces: Rubberized safety flooring in gyms and playrooms, sports turf, anti-fatigue matting, and textured industrial flooring. The machine handles surface variety that would send a disc scrubber running for the exit.

If you run a facility with mixed flooring, this is the whole reason the Duplex exists. One machine, one operator, one trip around the building.

Which Configuration Is Right for You?

Both variants share the same chassis, brushes, cleaning path, battery, and 50-minute runtime. The difference is what comes in the box. The base DHB 420 is battery-only. The DHB 420 Deluxe adds the H-Box corded power module AND the Steam Kit for chemical-free sanitizing. Here's how to decide.

Pick the DHB 420 if:

Your cleaning program is straightforward scrub-and-dry on mixed floors
50 minutes of cordless runtime per charge fits your route
You don't need steam sanitizing
You want the lower entry price and the option to add modules later

Ideal for daily maintenance routes in hotels, schools, retail stores, gyms, offices, and any facility with a predictable cleaning window. Add the H-Box later if you decide you want unlimited corded runtime, and add the Steam Kit on top of that if you decide you want sanitizing.

Pick the DHB 420 Deluxe if:

You need unlimited runtime and the freedom to plug in when the job runs long
You need chemical-free steam sanitizing for healthcare, food service, or daycare environments
You want all three power modes (battery, corded, and steam) in one package
You'd rather buy everything once than upgrade in pieces later

Ideal for healthcare facilities, food service operations, daycares, fitness centers, and contractors who work varied job sites and want every tool on hand. Remember: steam only operates when plugged into the H-Box, not on battery.

Your UltraBrush Options

Both variants ship with a set of brushes, but when it's time to replace them (or when a particular job calls for more scrub than the default can deliver), you have three UltraBrush options to pick from. Each is color-coded so there's no guessing which one is on the machine.
