Powr-Flite Floor Machines

A Powr-Flite floor machine scrubs, strips, spray buffs or sands a hard floor, depending on its speed and the pad you fit. We carry seven: Classic and Millennium 175 RPM swing machines from 13 to 20 inches, two dual speed 175/320 RPM models, and the Powr² orbital with or without dust control, among our floor machines.

How to Choose a Powr-Flite Floor Machine

Powr-Flite's machines split into three groups by speed and motion. Pick the group for the job, then the body and size.

175 RPM for everyday floor care. The single speed machines strip, scrub, spray buff and polish, and the pad does the work. The 13 inch C131-7 fits restrooms and kitchens, 17 inch suits classrooms and offices, and 20 inch covers corridors.

Dual speed for spray buffing. The C202 and NM202 scrub and strip at 175 RPM, then switch to 320 RPM to spray buff and dry polish tile between coats.

Orbital for chemical-free stripping and sanding. The Powr² moves a 14 by 20 inch rectangular pad in small, fast orbits instead of spinning it, so it reaches corners a round pad misses. With an EcoPrep pad it removes finish without chemical stripper. Floor techs who strip this way say it skips the stripper, though one warns that uneven floors may still need a wet strip. The DCORB1420 adds a HEPA vacuum to catch the dust.

Classic or Millennium. Classic machines have an all-metal chrome housing. Millennium machines use a one-piece molded housing that Powr-Flite says cuts noise and vibration, backed by a 10 year housing warranty. Millennium swing machines also weigh more, 109 and 110 pounds against 95 and 105, which adds pad pressure. All use a triple planetary gearbox and a 1.5 HP motor, except the 1 HP C131-7.

Tell us which floors you strip, scrub or sand, and we will recommend the machine and pad driver. Call (855) 601-5678 or use our contact page. Under our return policy, you can send a machine back within 30 days of receipt if it arrives unused and in new condition, with all original packaging and accessories.

Pads, Pad Drivers and Sanding Pads

Swing machines turn a round pad on a pad driver. Strip with a black pad, scrub with blue or green, spray buff with red and polish with white. Our floor pad color chart explains each one. The 17 and 20 inch machines and the NM202 come machine only or with a polymeric or tufted driver. The C202 offers a 20 inch driver and the C131-7 Powr-Flite's 11 inch tufted 613DP. With your own driver and no riser, pick one 1 to 2 inches smaller than the machine.

The Powr² takes 14 by 20 inch rectangular pads on its cast aluminum driver. Use EcoPrep for dry stripping, and Powr-Flite's specialty pads for wood sanding, tile and grout, or scuffs. For swing machine technique, read how to use a floor buffer.

Need a High Gloss? Powr-Flite Burnishers

None of these machines burnishes. A high gloss takes 1,500 RPM or more, so Powr-Flite's C1600-3 Classic at 1,600 RPM and its Millennium burnishers at 1,600 and 2,000 RPM sit with our floor burnishers. Our floor buffer vs burnisher guide explains the split. To scrub and pick up water in one pass, see our Powr-Flite floor scrubbers, and the rest of the brand under Powr-Flite cleaning equipment.

Powr-Flite Floor Machine FAQ

How much does a Powr-Flite floor machine cost?

The type matters more than the size. The 17 and 20 inch swing machines cost the least, the 13 inch C131-7 and the dual speed models a little more, and the Powr² orbitals the most. A polymeric or tufted pad driver package adds to a swing machine's price. Each product page shows its current price, and we can quote the exact setup you need.

Can a Powr-Flite floor machine sand a wood floor?

Use the Powr². Powr-Flite sells specialty pads for wood sanding on it, and says its orbital motion is gentler on the operator than a side-swing machine. If you need to keep the dust down, choose the DCORB1420. Its vacuum has a 4-stage HEPA filter and a 6 quart tank.

Who makes Powr-Flite floor machines, and where are they built?

Powr-Flite, a Tacony company and a sister brand to Tornado. Powr-Flite says every floor machine it sells is assembled and quality tested at its Fort Worth, Texas facility before it ships. Repairs go through authorized Powr-Flite service centers, and we can source genuine parts if you send us the model number.

Can a dual speed floor machine replace a burnisher?

No. At 320 RPM the C202 and NM202 spray buff and dry polish, but a high gloss takes a burnisher at 1,500 RPM or more. It doesn't work the other way either. A burnisher only polishes finish that is already down, so keep your stripping pads on a 175 RPM machine.
