Powr-Flite Carpet Wands for the Pulsar: Pick the One Rated for Your Pump


Every Powr-Flite Pulsar ships with its hose but no wand. These are the four wands Powr-Flite lists for the Pulsar family: three stainless carpet wands with 1 or 2 jets, and the Wonder Wand, a 2 jet wand that rides on rollers.

The rule that matters: the wand has to be rated at or above the pressure your machine runs. Powr-Flite warns that a wand rated below the pump can be damaged or burst. So the 200 PSI wand is only for the 100 PSI Pulsar+, while the 220 PSI Gamma and the 500 PSI Delta need a 500 or 1,000 PSI wand.

Why the tips differ. The jet tips are sized to the pressure. The 200 PSI wand uses a larger 11003 tip; the 500 PSI wands use a smaller 11002 tip or two 11001 tips. That keeps the flow right, so a high pressure machine doesn't flood the carpet and slow the dry time.

1 jet or 2 jets? Two jets spread the same flow into a wider, more even spray across the head, which helps on long open runs. A single jet is the simpler, lower cost wand, and plenty for maintenance cleaning.

Our pick for most buyers: the 1 Jet, 500 PSI wand. It's rated for every Pulsar, so it keeps working if you move up from a Pulsar+ to a Gamma or Delta later.


The Wonder Wand: Roll It Instead of Pushing It

A standard wand drags its stainless head across the carpet on every stroke. The Wonder Wand rides on a removable roller system, so you roll it back and forth instead of pushing and lifting it, which is easier on the operator over a long day.

Its 12 in air induction head keeps the solution under constant vacuum control, and Powr-Flite says it recovers up to 30% more solution. It has a heavy duty 1,000 PSI valve with a die-cast metal trigger, a thermoplastic handle, a final solution filter and quick release spray jets. Take off two screws and the rollers come off, turning it into a glide wand.

At $1,097.79 it costs about twice as much as the 2 jet wand, so it makes the most sense for crews who extract every day.


Setup and Care

Hooking up. The wand connects to the 20 ft vacuum and solution hose that comes with your Pulsar. Prime the pump by squeezing the trigger until water flows with no air before you start.

After each job. Run clean water through the wand to flush detergent out of the valve and jets. Powr-Flite recommends a little lubricant such as WD-40 on the brass quick disconnects.

Uneven spray? A clogged tip is the usual cause. Remove the jet, rinse it and the strainer, and refit it. The Wonder Wand's jets come off with a quarter turn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which wand do I need for my Pulsar?

Match the wand to your pump. Pulsar+ (100 PSI): any of the four. Gamma and Gamma+ (220 PSI) and Delta and Delta+ (50 to 500 PSI): the 1 Jet 500 PSI, the 2 Jet 500 PSI or the Wonder Wand. If you're unsure, the 1 Jet 500 PSI wand is rated for every Pulsar.

Can I use the 200 PSI wand on a Gamma?

No. The Gamma runs at 220 PSI, above the 200 PSI rating, even though one older Powr-Flite sheet lists it for the Gamma. Powr-Flite's own advice is to pick a wand rated above the machine's pressure, so take a 500 PSI wand.

Does the wand come with a hose?

No. The Pulsar already ships with a 20 ft vacuum and solution hose, and the wand connects to it.

What does KIT mean in PFX-KIT1, 2 and 3?

It's Powr-Flite's part number for these wands. Powr-Flite's pages show a wand only, so plan on the wand alone. Ask us if you want us to confirm the contents before you order.

Is the Wonder Wand worth the extra cost?

For crews who extract every day, often yes: it rolls instead of dragging, Powr-Flite says it recovers up to 30% more solution, and its 1,000 PSI rating covers every Pulsar. For occasional or in-house cleaning, a 500 PSI wand does the job for about half the price.

Can I take the rollers off the Wonder Wand?

Yes. Two screws hold the roller system; remove them and it works as a glide wand.

How do I keep the spray even?

Flush clean water through the wand after every job. If the pattern turns uneven, remove the jet, rinse it and its strainer, and refit it. Lubricate the brass quick disconnects now and then.
