The Pad Driver That Keeps Your Ultra Speed 20 Running True

The 54198A is the 20-inch ventilated pad driver for the Clarke Ultra Speed 20 and 20T battery burnishers. It spins the burnishing pad at 2,000 RPM and, with the machine's double-pivot design, lets the pad follow the floor's contours for an even shine.

Every Ultra Speed 20 and 20T ships with one. Replace it when it's cracked, warped or worn, or keep a second driver loaded with another pad so a pad change takes seconds.

Changing the Pad

Turn the key switch off and tip the machine back into the pad-change position shown in the manual. From the front of the machine, hold the pad retainer with one hand and turn the pad and pad driver counterclockwise to loosen the retainer. Remove the old pad and fit a new one, centered on the outside edge of the pad driver rather than on the center hole, since an off-center pad can cause vibration. Tighten the retainer as tight as you can, then lift the back of the machine to lower the pad housing. Always use a quality pad rated for 2,000 RPM.

Our Clarke 20-inch burnishing pads are the ones Clarke lists for this machine. Pad drivers are wear items and aren't covered by Nilfisk's machine warranty except for manufacturing defects.

What pads should I use?

20-inch burnishing pads rated for 2,000 RPM. Clarke's manual says to always use a quality pad rated for 2,000 RPM.

Why does my burnisher vibrate after a pad change?

Clarke's manual says vibration can happen if you center the pad on its center hole instead of on the outside edge of the pad driver. Refit the pad centered on the driver's outside edge.

Does it fit the Ultra Speed Pro 1500?

No. The corded Pro 1500 uses the VF99024 pad holder.

Is the pad driver covered by warranty?

Only for manufacturing defects. Nilfisk treats pad drivers as wear items.
