An orbital floor machine moves its deck in thousands of tiny circles every minute. What keeps that motion in the pad, and out of the frame, handle and your hands, is a set of rubber isolators between the orbital base and the machine. This is the Clarke service kit that replaces them on your Clarke FM40 orbital floor machine, ST or LX, and on the Clarke FM810.
Rubber ages. Over time, isolators harden, crack or tear, and the machine starts to feel different: more vibration through the handle, more noise, or a base that rattles or sits unevenly. If your FM40 shakes or sounds louder than it used to, worn isolators are one of the first things to check. Replace all four at once, so the base stays level and the load is shared evenly.
All four isolators in one kit. The FM40 base uses four, and the kit replaces the full set.
Hardware included. Washers and serrated flange nuts come in the kit, so there's nothing to hunt for.
Quieter, smoother running. Fresh rubber brings vibration back down, which is easier on the operator and on the machine.
Genuine Clarke part. Nilfisk service kit 56105746, listed in the FM40 parts list for both models.
The FM40 parts list shows the kit (K1) as four 1.25 inch, 30 durometer rubber isolators with 1/4-20 studs, plus flat washers and serrated flange nuts. The photo shows the kit as packed, which also includes a small pack of thread locker. Clarke doesn't publish replacement steps for the isolators, so if you'd rather not do it in-house, an authorized Nilfisk service center can fit them. With the base off the floor, it's also a good moment to check the pad: Clarke's FM40 manual says to replace one that has matted down to 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) or less, and the 14 x 20 inch Clarke scrub pads fit the FM40.
