Clarke® Focus® II Rider Ride-On Floor Scrubber, 28" Disc, 28" BOOST or 34" Disc

It's the first week of August, and your crew has three gyms, two cafeterias and a mile of hallway to scrub before the teachers come back. A walk-behind means a week of miles on foot. The Clarke Focus II Rider is the full-size ride-on floor scrubber for that kind of job: you sit, you steer, and a 31-gallon solution tank keeps you scrubbing for up to 155 minutes between refills.
Every Focus II Rider shares the same 24-volt chassis with a 31-gallon recovery tank, steel side skirts and Clarke's One-Touch controls. You choose a 28-inch disc, 28-inch BOOST orbital or 34-inch disc deck, then the battery pack and whether you want chemical mixing. That's 16 factory configurations, starting at $26,633.
All three decks scrub at up to 3.12 mph and give you three pressure settings from the seat. The heavy-duty steel side skirts adjust as the blades wear, so the water stays inside the cleaning path and the deck is protected when you run tight along a wall. Our guide to disk, cylindrical and orbital scrub heads compares the two styles across brands.
Two 13.5-inch brushes or pad drivers spin at 260 RPM. Down pressure runs 90, 150 or 220 lb, so the heavy setting can take care of a greasy cafeteria floor in one pass. Clarke rates it at 38,438 sq ft an hour at full scrubbing speed. Take off 30% to 50% for turns and dumps, and you get a realistic 19,000 to 27,000 square feet an hour. Without the squeegee it's 31.5 inches wide, so it fits through most standard doors.
A 14 x 28 inch rectangular pad moves in tight orbits at 2,250 RPM instead of spinning. It stays flat across the whole path and works the floor from every direction, at 90, 120 or 150 lb. Run a stripping pad with plain water and it takes off floor finish without stripper chemicals, so there are no fumes and no slippery stripper slurry in the hallway. Clarke says BOOST cuts pad use by about 40%. It costs only $282 more than the matching Disc 28.
The trade-offs are real. A flat pad can't reach low spots, so very uneven floors keep some finish in the dips, and heavy buildup may still need one chemical strip first. BOOST also uses its own rectangular pads, not round ones. If you never strip floors and a disc already gets them clean, stay with the Disc 28.
Two 16.5-inch brushes cover a 34-inch path, rated at 46,675 sq ft an hour, about 21% more than the 28-inch decks. It's the pick for gyms, warehouses, airport concourses and long, straight corridors. The catch is width. Without the squeegee it's 35.8 inches wide, too wide for most standard doors, and it needs a 67.5-inch aisle to turn around instead of 63 inches. The Disc 34 comes with the 420 Ah wet or 312 Ah AGM pack only and costs $1,155 more than the Disc 28 with the same batteries.
| Your floor or job | Best deck |
|---|---|
| Mixed floors, doorways, everyday scrubbing | Disc 28 |
| Flat floors, low water use, stripping finish with water only | BOOST 28 |
| Gyms, warehouses and wide corridors with few doors to pass | Disc 34 |
| Heavy buildup or very uneven floors being stripped | A disc deck with stripper chemical, at least for the first strip |
Every pack is 24 volts and sits under the seat. The 310 Ah wet pack is the lowest price and comes with an onboard charger, so you plug the machine into any grounded outlet. The 420 Ah wet pack holds about 35% more energy for longer shifts and comes with a separate shelf charger that you mount at your charging spot; it costs $1,110 more. Both wet packs need topping up with distilled water every week. The 312 Ah AGM pack is sealed and maintenance-free, comes with the onboard charger and costs $5,270 more than the 310 Ah wet. Clarke doesn't publish a runtime, so plan by amp-hours. Our guide to floor scrubber batteries explains the difference in more depth.
On a standard Rider you mix detergent into the solution tank. With chemical mixing (about $910 more), the tank holds clean water and a pump draws detergent from a container behind a cover in the operator compartment. One button steps through ten ratios from 1:32 to 1:400, and the machine remembers the last setting. That ends the guesswork when several people share one scrubber, and you never dump a tank of mixed chemical at the end of the night.
Not sure which setup fits? Send us your square footage, floor type, door widths and how long your shifts run, or call (855) 601-5678, and we'll tell you, including when a smaller machine makes more sense.
The Rider is the top of the Focus II family. The Focus II walk-behind is the lowest price, the Focus II MicroRider is the compact ride-on for tight buildings, and the Rider brings the biggest tanks, the biggest batteries and the widest deck. Here's how the three compare.
| Focus II walk-behind | Focus II MicroRider | Focus II Rider | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operator | Walks behind | Sits, compact | Sits, full size |
| Scrub decks | Disc 26, 28, 34; Cylindrical 28; BOOST 28, 32 | Disc 26; BOOST 28 | Disc 28, 34; BOOST 28 |
| Solution tank | 23 gal | 21 gal | 31 gal |
| Batteries | 242 Ah wet or 312 Ah AGM | 242 Ah wet or 255 Ah AGM | 310 or 420 Ah wet, or 312 Ah AGM |
| Length | 59.5 to 64 in | 53.5 in | 60 in |
| BOOST 28, wet batteries | $16,792 | $22,312 | $26,915 |
| Disc, wet batteries | $16,171 (Disc 28) | $20,542 (Disc 26) | $26,633 (Disc 28) |
Moving up from the MicroRider costs about $4,600 on the BOOST 28. What you get is 10 more gallons of solution, bigger battery packs, double the down pressure and the option of a 34-inch deck. If your building has narrow doors, small elevators or tight turns, the MicroRider is the better fit, and if the route is mostly small rooms, a walk-behind still wins on price. Our guide to walk-behind vs ride-on floor scrubbers walks through the math.
The Rider earns its price in buildings with long, open runs: school gyms and hallways, hospital corridors, arenas, warehouses and car dealer showrooms. The 31-gallon tank is the big win. Fewer trips to the drain means more of the shift goes into actual scrubbing.
Measure your doors before you pick a deck. With the squeegee off, the 28-inch models are 31.5 inches wide and the Disc 34 is 35.8 inches. The squeegee hangs on a built-in hook for transport. Also check any elevator or ramp: with a 175 lb operator, 310 Ah batteries and a full tank, Clarke lists 1,328 lb for the disc models and 1,371 lb for BOOST.
I'd pick the Disc 28 with the 310 Ah wet pack for most buyers. Go BOOST if you strip floors in-house, and the Disc 34 only if your floors are wide open. If nobody on your crew will water batteries every week, the AGM pack is worth it.
One honest note on price. If you don't need BOOST stripping with water, the 33-inch Tornado BR 33/30 (from $18,867) and the 32-inch ICE RS32+ (from $19,818) cost less.
31-gallon tanks. Up to 155 minutes of scrubbing between refills, so one operator covers more floor per shift.
Up to 220 lb of down pressure. Three settings from the seat, with enough weight on the disc decks to clean heavy soil in one pass.
Steel side skirts. Fully adjustable skirts keep water inside the path and protect the deck along walls.
Open operator compartment. Get on from either side, with a low step, angled floorboard and a seat you adjust without tools.
One-Touch controls. One button starts scrubbing, and the panel sets pressure, water flow, speed and detergent.
Easy daily care. A wide recovery tank opening, a debris catch cage, a solution sight tube and a squeegee storage hook.
Every Rider ships with its battery pack, a charger (onboard on the 310 Ah wet and 312 Ah AGM packages, a shelf charger with the 420 Ah wet pack), the pad holder for its deck and the operator manual. Floor pads are bought separately. The BOOST 28 takes one 14 x 28 inch rectangular pad, the same size as the Focus II BOOST 28 walk-behind and MicroRider, and our Clarke BOOST pads in 14 x 28 start at $50.72 for a case of five. The Disc 28 uses two 13.5-inch brushes or 13.75-inch pad drivers, and the Disc 34 two 16.5-inch brushes or 16.75-inch pad drivers. These are Rider-only sizes, so ask us for a quote on spares.
Plan for a few wear items. The squeegee blades have four working edges each, so you can turn them three times before you replace them, and the side skirt blades have two. Rinse the squeegee, pads and recovery tank daily, check battery water and the solution filter weekly, and lubricate the machine monthly. Clarke asks for a yearly carbon brush check on the motors at an authorized service center, and the lower BOOST isolators get replaced every 250 hours or once a year. Nilfisk treats pads, brushes, pad holders and blades as wear items, not covered except for manufacturing defects.
Clarke is one of Nilfisk's commercial floor care brands, so parts and service run through Nilfisk's network of authorized service centers across the US. Nilfisk covers rider scrubbers for 3 years parts, 3 years labor and 1 year travel, and covers wet and AGM batteries for 12 months against manufacturer defects. The Disc 28 is the everyday all-rounder for mixed floors and standard doorways. The BOOST 28 costs $282 more and adds deep scrubbing and floor finish removal with water only on flat floors. The Disc 34 cleans about 21% more floor per hour, but at 35.8 inches wide without the squeegee it suits wide-open areas such as gyms and warehouses rather than buildings with many doors.
With the squeegee removed, the 28-inch disc and BOOST models are 31.5 inches wide and the Disc 34 is 35.8 inches wide. The squeegee hangs on a built-in hook for transport. The body is 60 inches long and 55 inches high. With a 175 lb operator, 310 Ah batteries and a full tank, Clarke lists 1,328 lb for the disc models and 1,371 lb for BOOST, so check elevator and ramp ratings too.
Clarke rates the 31-gallon tank for up to 155 minutes of scrubbing between refills. It doesn't publish a battery runtime, which depends on the deck, pressure setting and how the batteries are kept. The 420 Ah wet pack holds about 35% more energy than the 310 Ah wet pack, so it's the choice for the longest shifts.
The 310 Ah wet pack is the lowest price and comes with an onboard charger. The 420 Ah wet pack costs $1,110 more, runs longer and comes with a shelf charger. The 312 Ah AGM pack is sealed and maintenance-free, with an onboard charger, and costs $5,270 more than the 310 Ah wet. If nobody will water batteries every week, AGM is the safer choice.
An onboard charger rides on the machine, so you plug it into any grounded outlet wherever the scrubber is parked. A shelf charger is a separate unit you mount at a fixed charging spot and connect to the battery pack. The Disc 34 is offered with the 420 Ah wet pack and shelf charger or the 312 Ah AGM pack with onboard charger.
It keeps detergent out of the solution tank. The tank holds clean water, and a pump draws detergent from a container in the operator compartment at one of ten ratios from 1:32 to 1:400, set with a button on the control panel. It adds about $910.
The scrubber, its battery pack, the charger for that package (onboard or shelf), the pad holder for the deck and the operator manual. Floor pads and brushes are bought separately: two 13.5-inch brushes or pad drivers for the Disc 28, two 16.5-inch for the Disc 34, or one 14 x 28 inch pad for the BOOST 28.
The Rider is the full-size model, with 31-gallon tanks instead of 21, larger battery packs, up to 220 lb of disc down pressure and a 34-inch deck option. The Focus II MicroRider is shorter, turns in a 59-inch aisle and starts at $20,542, so it suits buildings with tight doors and elevators.
Nilfisk's current policy covers rider scrubbers for 3 years parts, 3 years labor and 1 year travel through an authorized service center, and wet and AGM batteries for 12 months against manufacturer defects. Pads, brushes, pad holders and squeegee blades are wear items, not covered except for manufacturing defects.
