Stripping day usually means mixing stripper, laying it down, waiting, then fighting the slurry with a mop. These maroon surface prep pads are how Clarke's orbital machines skip most of that. Cut to 14 x 20 inches, they fit the deck of your Clarke FM40 orbital floor machine and the BOOST deck of the Clarke CA60 20B, and they come 10 to a case.
The maroon pad is a surface prep pad. It's the step before a recoat, or the pad that does the cutting when you strip finish with plain water. Clarke's own method for its BOOST machines runs the maroon pad under a red scrub pad, with water and a slower pace, and the FM40 brochure lists chemical-free finish removal as one of the FM40's jobs.
Before a recoat. A deep scrub that roughs up the old finish so the new coats bond to it.
Chemical-free stripping. Use water instead of stripper in kitchens, healthcare areas and anywhere fumes are a problem.
Small and tight areas. On the FM40, a square pad reaches into corners and along walls where a round pad leaves a strip.
For the everyday pads (red for routine scrubbing, blue for heavy scrubbing, black for stripping, white for polishing), see our Clarke BOOST scrub pads in the same 14 x 20 size. Not sure which color does what? Our floor pad color chart walks through each one.
Cut to the deck. A true 14 x 20 inch rectangle covers the whole orbital deck, edge to edge.
Less chemical to buy and haul. Water does most of the work that stripper used to do.
Case of 10. Enough pads to finish a full strip job without running out halfway.
Genuine Clarke part. Nilfisk part 997024, the maroon pad listed in the FM40 parts list.
On the FM40, lock the handle upright, tilt the machine back onto the handle, center the pad over the grip face and press until the hooks set. On the CA60 20B, raise the deck and press the pad onto the BOOST pad driver. Rinse pads after use, and swap any pad that has matted down to 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) or less, the point where Clarke's FM40 manual says to replace it. Pads are wear items and aren't covered by Nilfisk's machine warranty except for manufacturing defects.

The Clarke FM40 ST and FM40 LX orbital floor machines and the Clarke CA60 20B BOOST scrubber, which all run 14 x 20 inch rectangular pads. They don't fit the CA60 24B, which takes 14 x 24 inch pads.
It's a surface prep pad: a deep scrub before a recoat, or the pad that does the cutting when you remove finish with water instead of stripper.
Ten pads, all maroon, 14 x 20 inches.
Clarke's FM40 manual says to replace a pad once it has matted down to 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) or less.
