Clarke Summit Pro 18SQ Wet/Dry Vacuum: An 18-Gallon Squeegee Vac for the Big Wet Jobs

It's 8 p.m. and your crew just stripped the cafeteria floor. There's a film of stripper and rinse water across 3,000 square feet of VCT, and the room has to be dry and refinished before breakfast. With a wand and a floor tool, that's a long night of short strokes. The Clarke Summit Pro 18SQ wet/dry vacuum carries a 24-inch squeegee on its front, so you push it across the floor like a broom and the water goes straight into an 18-gallon tank.

A two-stage motor gives it 95 CFM of airflow and 90 inches of waterlift, and the 50-foot cord covers most rooms from one outlet. When you need to reach corners, drains or dust on a ledge, grab the 9-foot hose and pick a tool from the 5-piece kit that rides in the handle.

The Owner's Insights on the Summit Pro 18SQ

I'd point the Summit Pro 18SQ at schools, gyms, commercial kitchens and any crew that strips or scrubs with a floor machine and needs the water gone fast. Lowering the squeegee is a foot job: press the top of the pedal at the back and it drops to the floor, press the bottom and it lifts for transport. The 10-inch wheels roll it over thresholds and up a few steps, and when you're done you empty it through the drain hose at the back instead of tipping the tank.

Now the honest part. Unlike a cartridge-filter vac, you swap filters between wet and dry pickup, and Clarke voids the motor warranty if you pick up water without the Bubble Buster in place. At 81 dB(A) it's an after-hours machine, not one to run in a lobby at noon. And at 60 lbs and 41.5 inches tall, it lives in a mechanical room or a closet with floor space, not on a shelf. If your messes are small spills across several sites, the lighter Maxxi II 35 further down is the easier vac to live with.

Why You'll Love the Clarke Summit Pro 18SQ

  • 24-inch front-mount squeegee. Each pass picks up a 2 ft wide strip, and the rear foot pedal raises or lowers it without bending down.

  • 18-gallon tank with a drain hose. A full tank of water weighs about 150 lbs. Pull the ball plug over a floor drain instead of lifting it.

  • 95 CFM and 90 inches of waterlift. A two-stage, 1.17 hp motor, with a float that cuts suction when the tank is full.

  • 50-foot safety yellow cord. Long enough for most hallways and classrooms from a single outlet.

  • 10-inch non-marking wheels. They roll over thresholds and climb stairs without scuffing the floor you just cleaned.

  • Complete tool kit on board. Crevice tool, dusting brush, wet and dry floor tools and a 3-piece stainless steel wand store in the handle.

Wet Pickup or Dry Pickup: How the Filters Work

The Summit Pro uses a different filter for each job. For water, the blue Bubble Buster nylon foam suppression bag (Nilfisk part GV25014) goes in under the vacuum head. Clarke requires it for every wet job: run wet pickup without it and the vacuum motor warranty is void. Rinse it with clean water after each use so buildup doesn't choke the airflow.

For dust and debris, take the Bubble Buster out and fit the cloth filter (GV0014). Check it after each use and change the bag when it's about three-quarters full. One thing worth knowing before stripping day: foam doesn't lift the float, so if stripper or detergent starts foaming in the tank, add a defoamer before it reaches the motor.

Summit Pro 18SQ vs Taskforce 20 and WV 1800DH: Which Squeegee Wet Vac Fits?

Clarke Summit Pro 18SQ Tornado Taskforce 20 NaceCare WV 1800DH (C3A kit)
Price $1,218 $827 $1,499
Tank 18 gal 20 gal stainless steel (15 gal wet working) 20 gal structural foam

Waterlift 90 in 90 in 100 in

Emptying Drain hose Tilt and pour Dump hose
Dry pickup Yes, cloth filter Yes, cloth filter No, wet only
Weight 60 lbs 63 lbs 81 lbs
Sound 81 dB(A) Not published 64 dB(A)

The Taskforce 20 costs $391 less and adds a stainless steel tank and more airflow, but its cord is 20 feet shorter and you tip the whole tank to empty it. The WV 1800DH with the C3A squeegee kit costs $281 more and is much quieter, with 100 inches of waterlift and a wider squeegee, but NaceCare sells it as a wet-only vacuum. If one machine has to handle water and dust, the Summit Pro is the better fit of the three.

Mostly small spills on a multi-site route? The Clarke Maxxi II 35 is a 9 gallon, 25 lb wet/dry vac with the same 50 ft cord and the same 81 dB(A), for $646 less. It has no squeegee and no drain hose, but you carry it with one hand. See every size in our commercial wet dry vacuums collection.

Filters, Parts and Running Costs

There's no bag to buy for wet work, because the Bubble Buster rinses out and goes back in. Your wear items are the squeegee blades, the floor tool blades and the cloth filter for dry pickup. Wipe the squeegee blades with a cloth after each use, check the hose for holes and clogs, and grease the wheels and axles with a water-resistant lubricant once a month. These are the Nilfisk part numbers. Call or message us and we'll quote any of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to change filters between wet and dry pickup?

Yes. Use the blue Bubble Buster (GV25014) for every wet job; Clarke voids the vacuum motor warranty if you pick up liquid without it. For dust and debris, take it out and fit the cloth filter (GV0014).

How do I empty the tank?

Roll it to a floor drain or a bucket, take the drain hose off the back, pull the ball plug and let it drain. Then lift off the vacuum head and rinse the tank with clean water. Store it with the head off so the tank can air out.

What happens when the tank is full?

A float shuts off suction so water can't reach the motor. Foam doesn't trigger the float, though, so if your stripper or cleaner foams in the tank, add a defoamer.

Can I get a wider squeegee?

Yes. Nilfisk makes an optional 30-inch front-mount squeegee assembly (VA00002A) and a 24-inch dry pickup assembly (VA00005) for this vacuum. Call or message us and we'll quote them.

Some sites list 110 inches of waterlift. Which is right?

Clarke's 2014 brochure lists 110 inches, while Nilfisk's current website and fact sheet list 90 inches. We use the current Nilfisk figure.

Can I use an extension cord?

No. Clarke's manual says not to use an extension cord with this machine, so work from the 50-foot cord and plan your outlets before you start. The manual also lists it for indoor commercial use only.

How loud is it?

Clarke rates it at 81 dB(A), the same as the Clarke Maxxi II 35, and well above normal conversation at around 60 dB. It's best for after-hours work.

How is it shipped?

It ships directly from the manufacturer's US distribution network, about 81 lbs in the box, and you'll get tracking by email as soon as it leaves. If you need it by a specific date, call (855) 601-5678 before you order and we'll confirm availability.

Can I return it?

Yes, under our return policy, which explains the conditions and how to start a return. If you're unsure it's the right vacuum, call us first and we'll help you pick, even if that means a different model.

What warranty does it have?

Nilfisk covers its wet/dry vacuums for 3 years on parts, 3 years on labor and 1 year of travel. The full Nilfisk warranty document is in the downloads on this page. Wear items such as filters, bags and squeegee blades aren't covered except for manufacturing defects.
