The 20-Inch Brush That Takes Your CA30 20B Into the Grout

A floor pad rides on the high spots. On grout lines, textured tile and uneven concrete, the dirt sits in the low spots, and that's where a pad skims right over it. This 20-inch disk brush mounts on your Clarke CA30 20B in place of the pad holder, and its bristles flex down into those low spots while the machine scrubs and dries in the same pass.

It's Clarke part VF90417, which Nilfisk's CA30 20B spec sheet lists as a 510 mm (20 in) disc brush with polypropylene bristles. If your 20B came with the disk brush, this is the exact replacement. If it came with the pad holder, this is the add-on that turns it into a brush scrubber. The same brush fits three Nilfisk-made Viper scrubbers, the Viper AS510B, AS5160 and AS5160T, so one part covers a mixed fleet.

Brush or Pad: Which One Should You Run?

Run the brush on grout, textured or slip-resistant tile, and rough or uneven concrete. Stay with the 20-inch pad holder (Clarke part VF90454) and a pad on smooth VCT and sealed floors, and for any job where the pad color matters, like stripping or polishing. Our guide on brush vs pad goes deeper. Many crews keep one of each and swap by floor.

Why You'll Love This Brush

  • Reaches into grout and texture. The bristles flex into low spots a flat pad glides over.

  • Polypropylene bristles. A general-purpose scrubbing bristle for daily cleaning on most hard floors.

  • No pads to replace. You skip the pad changes on routes that scrub the same textured floors every night.

  • Fits four machines. Clarke CA30 20B and Viper AS510B, AS5160 and AS5160T all use the same VF90417 brush.

How to Fit the Brush

Put on gloves, turn the power switch off and lift the squeegee off the floor. Press down on the handle to raise the tank body, slide the brush underneath, lower the tank body onto it and turn the brush by hand in the direction of the arrow to lock it on. To remove it, turn it the other way and pull it off. The full steps are in the CA30 20B operator manual. Rinse the brush after each use and check the bristles for wear. Brushes are wear items, so Nilfisk's machine warranty doesn't cover them except for manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the VF90417 brush fit the Clarke CA30 20B?

Yes. Nilfisk lists it on the CA30 20B spec sheet as the 20-inch (510 mm) disc brush, and it fits both versions of the 20B.

Which other machines does it fit?

The Viper AS510B, AS5160 and AS5160T. All three are Nilfisk-made 20-inch scrubbers that use the same VF90417 brush.

Does it fit the Clarke CA30 17E?

No. The CA30 17E has a 17-inch deck and uses the 17-inch VF90411 brush.

When should I use the brush instead of a pad?

On grout, textured or slip-resistant tile and rough or uneven concrete, where a flat pad skims over the low spots. On smooth VCT and sealed floors, or when you're stripping or polishing, a pad on the pad holder is the better choice.

What are the bristles made of?

Polypropylene, a general-purpose scrubbing bristle for daily cleaning of most hard floors.
