Therma-Kleen® Therma-Steem® Detail Brushes, Nylon, Brass, Stainless and Horsehair

The small round brushes do most of the scrubbing on a dry vapor steam cleaner, and they're the first accessory to wear out. Pick your machine first: the .75 and #10 take push-on brushes, the Industrial 400 and XL Series take screw-on brushes. Then choose a 1 in brush for tight spots or a 2-1/2 in brush for wider surfaces.
The 1 in brushes come in packs of 3 and the 2-1/2 in brushes in packs of 2. The factory refill set is the ten brushes a new machine ships with: three each of the 1 in nylon, brass and stainless, plus one 2-1/2 in nylon.
Nylon. The everyday brush, safe on tile, grout, plastics, sealed surfaces and most kitchen equipment.
Brass. Stiffer, for baked-on grease and carbon on grills, oven racks and cast iron. Less likely than stainless to scratch steel.
Stainless steel. The most aggressive, for heavy buildup on grates and concrete. Try it on a hidden spot first.
Horsehair. The gentlest, for upholstery, vehicle interiors and polished finishes.
This is general guidance on bristle materials, not a Therma-Kleen chart. When in doubt, start with nylon. Replace a brush once its bristles flatten or splay.

The .75 and #10 (and the older 1.5 and Deluxe) take push-on brushes. The Industrial 400 and XL1, XL2 and XL3 take screw-on brushes. Pick your machine first and the brush list shows the right part numbers.
1 in brushes come in packs of 3, 2-1/2 in brushes in packs of 2. The factory refill set has ten: three each of the 1 in nylon, brass and stainless, plus one 2-1/2 in nylon, the same mix a new machine ships with.
Not in Therma-Kleen's current catalog. The screw-on horsehair brush comes in the 1 in size only.
Nylon. It's safe on most surfaces. Move to brass or stainless for baked-on grease on metal, and to horsehair for upholstery and delicate finishes.
