NaceCare NA 1520 20" High-Speed Floor Burnisher, 1500 RPM

The finish went down in August, and by October the lobby looks dull and scuffed. You don't strip it again. You burnish it. The NaceCare NA 1520 floor burnisher spins a 20-inch pad at 1,500 RPM, and that speed polishes the finish already on the floor back to a wet-look gloss in a fraction of the time a new coat takes.
A 1.5 hp DC rectified motor drives the pad through a multi-grooved belt, the frame is heavy-duty steel, and it runs on a standard 115 V outlet with a 50-foot cord.
A 1500 RPM burnisher is the machine that keeps a finished floor looking finished between strip jobs. Run it over a clean, fully cured floor a few nights a week and the scuffs and dull traffic lanes come back to a shine.
What I like about the NA 1520 is the plain, rugged build: steel, a belt you can re-tension yourself (the owner manual shows how), a pad centering lock, and NaceCare's 5-year steel frame warranty. NaceCare's manual for its high speed burnisher says it's assembled in the USA.
Where it loses: price. The EDIC Saturn SV 1500 we sell costs $811 less and comes with a pad driver, a pad and 5 years of parts and labor. The NA 1520 makes the most sense if your floor equipment is already NaceCare and you want one company behind all of it.
One rule for any burnisher: burnish dry. No spray buff or restorer under the pad at 1,500 RPM, and use pads rated for that speed.
1,500 RPM pad speed. The speed high-speed burnishing pads are made for, bringing gloss back without a new coat.
1.5 hp DC rectified motor and multi-grooved belt. Power reaches the pad without slipping, and the belt can be tightened as it wears.
Heavy-duty steel construction. NaceCare backs the steel frame for 5 years.
Pad centering lock. Snaps in to keep the pad centered on the driver at full speed.
Safety lock and dual triggers. It won't start until you push the lock forward, and it stops the moment you let go.
50-foot cord. Long passes down a corridor from one outlet.

They look alike, but they do opposite jobs. A low-speed floor machine like the NaceCare NA 20SS turns at 175 RPM. That's for taking finish off (stripping), scrubbing between coats and shampooing. A burnisher like the NA 1520 turns about eight times faster and only polishes the finish that's already down.
So most buildings that keep their own floors end up with both: the NA 20SS ($1,999) for the strip-and-wax cycle and the NA 1520 for the shine between cycles. If you only have budget for one, ask yourself which job you do every week. That's usually the burnisher.
Start with a clean floor: dust mop or auto scrub it and let it dry completely. The finish should be fully cured, so wait the time the finish label gives after a new coat.
Unplug the machine, tip it back onto its wheels and handle, and fit the pad driver and a 20-inch burnishing pad with the centering lock. Set the handle to a comfortable height, push the safety lock forward and squeeze the triggers. Keep the pad flat and guide the machine in steady, overlapping passes. Don't let it sit spinning in one spot.
Dust mop afterwards to pick up the fine powder, then take the pad driver off before you store the machine, as NaceCare's manual asks.
The NA 1520 costs $2,299. Here are the burnishers we sell next to it, including the ones that cost less.
Best value. The EDIC Saturn SV is a 20-inch, 1,500 or 2,000 RPM burnisher with a 75-foot cord, a pad driver and pad included and 5 years of parts and labor, for $811 less.
Big-brand options for less. The Clarke Ultra Speed Pro 1500 costs $420 less, and the Powr-Flite Classic Series 1600 RPM burnisher $349 less.
Dust control. The Powr-Flite Millennium NM2000DC has a dust control system built in, for $620 less.
Quieter. The ICE iB1500 is rated at 62 dBA, quiet enough for occupied lobbies, for $328 more.

NaceCare has sold commercial cleaning equipment in North America for almost 40 years. Its 2025 US warranty chart covers steel floor machines like the NA 1520 for 5 years on the steel frame and 2 years on switches, motors, electrical parts and labor, longer than the 1-year terms printed in the older owner manual. We're an authorized NaceCare retailer, so that warranty comes with every machine. Found a lower price? Call or message us and we'll beat it.

A burnisher. It spins the pad at 1,500 RPM to polish floor finish that's already down and cured. A low-speed floor machine like NaceCare's NA 20SS turns at 175 RPM for stripping and scrubbing. The NA 1520 won't strip or scrub.
20-inch burnishing pads rated for at least 1,500 RPM. On a 20-inch machine the pad rides on a 19-inch pad driver, and the pad centering lock holds it in the middle. Tell us your finish and traffic and we'll suggest a pad.
Dealers list the NA 1520 with a flexible pad driver, but NaceCare's spec sheet doesn't say what's in the box. If you need it confirmed before you order, ask us and we'll check with NaceCare. Pads are sold separately.
No. Burnish dry on a clean, dry, fully cured floor. Liquids under a pad turning at 1,500 RPM sling and streak. Spray buffing is a job for a low-speed or dual-speed floor machine.
NaceCare's manual says to plug the burnisher into a properly grounded 120-volt outlet and not to use extension cords or outlets that can't carry the current. Use the 50-foot cord and move outlets as you go.
Wipe it down after each job, check the cord, and take the pad driver off before storing it. If the belt slips, the manual shows how to tighten it: loosen the motor bolts, turn the two screws at the rear of the frame, test, then retighten. Don't over-tighten the belt.
NaceCare's spec sheet lists 77 lbs and a 22.5 x 31.5 x 49.5 inch footprint. Plan on two people to lift it into a van.
Under NaceCare's 2025 US warranty chart for steel floor machines: 5 years on the steel frame and 2 years on switches, motors, electrical parts and labor. That's longer than the 1-year terms printed in the older burnisher manual, and it's the policy in force now.
