Powr-Flite® Comfort Pro® BP6S Backpack Vacuum, 6 Quart, CRI Gold, Optional Turbo and 20 ft High-Up Kits

Stairs, theater rows, offices full of desks, buses and classrooms: anywhere an upright can't turn, a backpack lets you clean without dragging a machine behind you. The Powr-Flite Comfort Pro BP6S puts an 8.62 lb machine on an adjustable harness, about 11.8 lbs on your back in all, with a hip belt that carries the weight on your hips instead of your shoulders.

A 1,200 W, 10 amp motor gives it 110 inches of water lift and 130 cfm, and 5-stage filtration with a HEPA bag holds 6 quarts of debris. It runs at 62 dBA, carries the CRI Gold Seal and plugs into a 50 ft cord. Order it with the standard tool kit, or as a kit with a turbo nozzle, a 20 ft high-up kit, or both.

Standard Tool Kit (#BP6S). A 4 ft crush-proof hose, a 2-piece bent chrome wand and six tools: 14 inch carpet tool, 14 inch Powr-Glide floor tool, 14 inch hard floor tool, 17 inch crevice tool, 5 inch upholstery tool and 3 inch dusting brush. Enough for floors, stairs, furniture and ledges. $425.

Turbo Kit (#BP6S-KIT1). Adds the X6002-TB air turbine nozzle. The vacuum's own airflow spins its brush, so it pulls ground-in dirt and pet hair out of carpet and rugs with no extra motor or cord. $86 more than the standard BP6S.

Ranger Kit (#BP6S-KIT2). Adds the X6004-HU high-up kit: extension tubes, curved wands, an adjustable wand, cobweb, duct and wall brushes, plus extra upholstery and crevice tools in a carry bag. It reaches up to 20 ft for ducts, piping, beams and light fixtures. $174 more than the standard BP6S.

Turbo Ranger Kit (#BP6S-KIT3). Adds both the X6002-TB turbo nozzle and the X6004-HU 20 ft high-up kit. $210 more than the standard BP6S.

Rule of thumb: mostly hard floors and office carpet, get the standard kit. Entry mats, area rugs or pet hair, get the Turbo. High dusting in gyms, churches, warehouses or atriums, get the Ranger. Both jobs, get the Turbo Ranger.

The BP6S is the backpack I'd point most crews to first. It's one of the most affordable commercial backpacks we carry, and you still get a HEPA bag, the CRI Gold Seal and a 50 ft cord. Strapped on, it's under 12 pounds, and the tools ride on the belt, so you're not walking back to a cart every time you switch from the floor tool to the crevice tool.

Two honest notes. It's a dry vacuum, so keep it away from water and wet spills. And it plugs in: on big floors with outlets far apart, the cordless Comfort Pro Freedom saves you the cord handling, for quite a bit more money.

A good fit: schools, offices, hotels, theaters and churches, stairs and tight rooms full of furniture, buses and other vehicles, and contract cleaners who cover a lot of square feet a night. With the Ranger kit, high dusting on ducts, beams and fixtures.

Not the best fit: wet pickup of any kind, and large open carpet areas, where a wide-area vacuum covers more ground per pass.
