Sandia Sniper 12-Gallon 200 PSI Carpet Extractor: More Pressure, Big Tanks, Optional Heat

Friday night, and the restaurant's dining room carpet has a gray path from the kitchen door to every booth. At 100 PSI you'd make three passes and still leave soil in the pile. The Sandia Sniper 12-gallon 200 PSI carpet extractor doubles the pump pressure of the entry Sniper, so solution reaches deeper into dense commercial carpet, and the 12-gallon tanks keep you cleaning instead of walking to the sink.

Every model runs an adjustable 200 PSI pump and two vacuum motors, either dual 2-stage (80-2200) or dual 3-stage (80-3200). Add the 2,000 W in-line heater (the -H models) and you extract with solution up to 200°F, according to Sandia.

It's a portable box extractor for heavier maintenance in restaurants, hotels, schools, offices and healthcare spaces, and for contract cleaners who want more push than 100 PSI. It ships machine only, so pick the hose and wand package below if you don't already own them.

Which Sniper 12-Gallon 200 PSI Do I Need?

Two choices decide the model: the vacuum motors and the heater. The tanks, the 200 PSI pump, the 10-inch wheels and the body are the same on all four.

Dual 2-stage or dual 3-stage vacuum motors. Both versions run two motors side by side. The 3-stage motors add a third fan stage, which means stronger suction on long hose runs and thick, wet carpet, so you leave less water behind and the carpet dries faster. At 200 PSI you put more water down than at 100, so recovery matters more. The 2-stage 80-2200 is the only model that runs on a single 25-foot cord. The dual 3-stage 80-3200 needs two cords on two separate circuits. Sandia rates the series at up to 205 inches of water lift.

Heat or no heat. Hot solution loosens greasy soil and body oils that cold water leaves behind, which matters on traffic lanes, entry mats and restaurant carpet. The in-line heater warms the solution on its way to the wand, so the tank stays at tap temperature. Heated models use two 25-foot cords, one of them dedicated to the heater, and each cord needs its own 20 A circuit.

Without heat, the step from dual 2-stage to dual 3-stage costs $316, and adding the heater to the 80-2200 costs about $760. One quirk worth knowing: on Sandia's current price list the heated dual 3-stage 80-3200-H costs $40 less than the heated dual 2-stage 80-2200-H, so if you want heat, the stronger motors cost you nothing extra. 100, 200, 300 or 500 PSI?

Sandia builds the 12-gallon Sniper with four pump sizes. The body, tanks, vacuum motors and heater option stay the same; the pump decides how hard the machine can push solution into the carpet. Sandia lists every pump above 100 PSI as adjustable.

Pump Best for Starting price
100 PSI Sniper Routine maintenance of office, school and church carpet $2,420
200 PSI Sniper (this page) Heavier maintenance, restaurant and hotel traffic lanes $3,192
300 PSI Sniper Heavily soiled carpet and regular contract cleaning $3,298
500 PSI Sniper Restorative cleaning of neglected or heavily stained carpet $3,658

Torn between 200 and 300 PSI? The dual 2-stage 300 PSI 80-2300 costs only $106 more than the 80-2200 on this page, so if you clean heavy soil often, the extra pressure is cheap.

What You Need to Start Cleaning

Sandia ships the Sniper as a machine only: tanks, pump, motors and the 25-foot power cord or cords. Hoses and tools are sold separately, so check this list before you order.

Sandia 80-0500 kit with coiled vacuum and solution hoses and a stainless dual jet carpet wand

Hoses and carpet wand (needed). The Sandia 80-0500 kit gives you a 25-foot vacuum hose, a 25-foot solution hose with quick disconnects and a stainless dual jet wand. Choose "With 25 ft Hose and Wand Kit" above and you save $100 against buying the kit separately at $560. Need to reach farther from the outlet? The kit also comes with 50-foot hoses.

Sandia 10-0501 stainless steel upholstery hand tool with a 4 inch head and trigger

Upholstery and stair tool (optional). For chairs, booths, stair treads and car interiors, add the Sandia 10-0501 stainless hand tool ($186). Sandia lists this stainless tool as required for machines with heat, so it's the one to pair with the -H models. Turn the pressure down for fabric.

You'll also want a low-foam extraction chemical, a defoamer for the recovery tank and a pre-spray for heavy soil. Sandia warns against powdered detergents, citrus acid and harsh degreasers in this machine.

The Owner's Insights on the Sniper 12-Gallon 200 PSI

The 200 PSI Sniper is the one I'd point most small contract cleaners to. It has the same recessed waist-high controls and 10-inch stair-climbing wheels as the 100 PSI model, but the extra pressure means fewer repeat passes on traffic lanes, and fewer passes leave less water in the carpet.

Because the pump is adjustable, one machine in the van covers a lightly soiled office in the morning and a restaurant dining room at night. The 12-gallon tanks mean a hotel corridor or a classroom wing gets done on one fill.

The honest part: more pressure puts more water down, so recovery matters. On thick carpet I'd take the dual 3-stage motors, and the heated models need two separate 20 A circuits. Map your outlets before you buy one.

Why You'll Love the Sniper 12-Gallon 200 PSI

  • Adjustable 200 PSI pump. Twice the pressure of the entry Sniper for heavier soil, and you can turn it down for lighter jobs.

  • 12-gallon solution and recovery tanks. Fewer trips to fill and dump, so more of the shift goes into actual cleaning.

  • Two vacuum motors on every model. Up to 205 inches of water lift, per Sandia, pulls more water out, so carpet dries and goes back into use sooner.

  • Optional 2,000 W in-line heater. Solution up to 200°F, per Sandia, breaks down oily traffic-lane soil that cold water leaves behind.

  • Recessed waist-high controls. Protected in transport and storage, and easy to reach without stooping.

  • Roto-molded polyethylene body. Resists dents, chips and cracks, with a lifetime body warranty and 2 years on the pump, per Sandia's product page.

Sniper 200 PSI or Another Mid-Pressure Extractor?

We sell all of these, so here's a straight comparison with the portable extractors buyers usually cross-shop at this pressure.

The Powr-Flite Pulsar Gamma+ costs $193 less and has bigger tanks with heat on every unit, but it runs one vacuum motor. The Tornado Surge 220 comes heated and ready to work with its hose and wand. The Sniper's case is two vacuum motors with up to 205 inches of water lift, an adjustable pump, and heat only if you want it: the heated 80-2200-H is $3,952. Setup, Chemicals and Upkeep

Sandia ships the machine with RV antifreeze in the lines, so the first job is flushing clean water through the wand. Fill the solution tank with water under 100°F, as Sandia's manual says. Hot fill water can damage the pump and void the warranty, and on heated models the in-line heater does the heating for you.

Pre-spray and agitate heavy soil, give the chemical about 10 minutes, then extract. Start at a lower pressure and raise it only as far as the soil needs, because more pressure means more water in the carpet. Use low-foam chemicals and keep defoamer in the recovery tank. After each job, empty and rinse both tanks, clean the filters and store the machine with the lids off. Sandia's manual also covers flushing the lines with diluted vinegar to keep minerals from building up, and winterizing with RV antifreeze, because freeze damage isn't covered.

Sandia can factory-install auto-fill and auto-dump on new 12-gallon Snipers. It has to be built in before the machine ships, so ask us for a quote before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Sandia Sniper 12-gallon 200 PSI come with hoses and a wand?

No. Sandia ships it machine only, with the 25-foot power cord or cords. Choose the "With 25 ft Hose and Wand Kit" package to get the Sandia 80-0500 kit (25-foot vacuum hose, 25-foot solution hose and stainless dual jet wand) for $100 less than buying it separately.

When do I need 200 PSI instead of 100 PSI?

When your carpet is denser or dirtier than routine office maintenance: restaurant and hotel traffic lanes, entry areas, or jobs where you want solution pushed deeper into the pile. 100 PSI handles routine maintenance well; 200 PSI gives you more push when the soil is heavier. For the hardest restorative work, Sandia also makes 300 and 500 PSI Snipers.

Is the pump adjustable?

Sandia lists the 200 PSI pump as adjustable, and the manual shows a regulator/unloader with a pressure gauge. Use only as much pressure as the job needs, especially on fabric and lighter carpet.

What is the difference between the dual 2-stage and dual 3-stage models?

Both have two vacuum motors. The 3-stage motors (80-3200) add a fan stage for stronger suction, which helps on longer hose runs and very wet carpet. The 2-stage 80-2200 is the only model that runs on one cord, so it's the easiest to plug in.

Which models need two outlets?

Every model except the 80-2200. The 80-2200-H, 80-3200 and 80-3200-H each have two 25-foot cords, and each cord needs its own 20 A circuit. On heated models, two outlets on the same breaker can trip it or keep the heater from working.

How hot does the in-line heater get?

Sandia rates the 2,000 W in-line heater at solution temperatures up to 200°F. It heats the solution on its way to the wand, so you don't need hot water in the tank.

Can I fill the solution tank with hot water?

No. Sandia's manual says to fill with water under 100°F. Hot fill water can damage the pump and void the warranty. On heated models, let the in-line heater do the heating.

Can I clean upholstery and stairs with it?

Yes, with a hand tool. The Sandia 10-0501 4-inch stainless steel hand tool connects to the same hoses as the wand, and Sandia lists it as required for machines with heat. Turn the pressure down for fabric.

What chemicals can I use?

Use low-foam liquid carpet extraction chemicals and a defoamer in the recovery tank. Sandia warns against powdered detergents, citrus acid and harsh degreasers, and says powdered detergents void the warranty.

What is the warranty?

Sandia's current product page lists a lifetime warranty on the body, 2 years on the vacuum motors and the 200 PSI pump, 1 year on electrical parts and 90 days on tools and accessories, with 1 year of labor at an authorized service center. Sandia's 2016 manual says 1 year on the pump; we go by the current page.

Where is the Sniper made?

Sandia labels the 12-gallon Sniper as manufactured in the US. Ultimate Solutions builds Sandia equipment in Huntington Beach, California.

Can I add auto-fill or auto-dump?

Sandia offers both as factory upgrades on new 12-gallon Snipers only, so they have to be ordered before the machine is built. Call or message us for a quote.

How does it ship?

Shipping is free. The machine ships from Sandia in California, and lead time depends on factory stock, so contact us if you need it by a certain date.
