Picture the night crew in a school or a clinic: three people share one scrubber, nobody owns battery care, and every few months a set of lead acid batteries dies early because someone skipped the watering. A lithium walk-behind floor scrubber takes that whole problem off the list, and the ICE i24YTL is ICE's 24-inch lithium traction scrubber in its new Y series.
Two pad drivers cover a 24-inch path in a body only 26 inches wide. The traction drive moves the machine forward and in reverse, it scrubs with up to 99 lb of pad pressure, and it carries a 16-gallon solution tank and a 17-gallon recovery tank. The 24-volt lithium-ion battery charges on board, needs no watering and is warrantied by ICE for the life of the machine, on top of 5 years parts and 5 years labor on the scrubber.
ICE rates the i24YTL at 28,000 square feet an hour and about 3 hours per charge. Take off 30 to 50% for turns, refills and edges and you still get roughly 14,000 to 19,600 square feet an hour of real cleaning. And at 273 lb with the battery, it weighs about 170 lb less than the same scrubber with lead acid batteries.
The i24YTL is the same 24-inch scrubber as the ICE i24YT. The only difference is the battery, and here's what it changes:
Price. The i24YTL costs $628 more than the i24YT with AGM batteries and $1,441 more than with lead acid.
Upkeep. No watering, no acid, no cleaning corroded terminals. Plug it in after the shift and walk away.
Battery life. Wet and AGM batteries are wear items under ICE's warranty. ICE's lithium battery is warrantied for the life of the machine, so you shouldn't buy a replacement set every few years.
Weight. 273 lb instead of 441 lb, which is easier on elevators, mezzanines and the operator's arms in tight turns.
If one careful person runs the machine a few nights a week, the lead acid i24YT is the better value. If the machine runs every night or several people share it, lithium usually pays back its difference in skipped battery replacements. What I like about the i24YTL is how much machine you get for the money in ICE's lithium lineup. It costs $2,902 less than the 20-inch i20NBTL+ and still covers a wider path, with two 11-inch pad drivers on a die-cast aluminum deck turned by one belt-driven motor. At 273 lb it's also the lightest 24-inch ride in the ICE catalog, so it steers easily in tight turns and doesn't worry the elevator.
Now the honest part. The Y series leaves out i-Synergy: no fleet reports, no ID card start. If you need cleaning records for clients or inspectors, the i20NBTL+ or i28BTL+ are the ones to buy. The 16-gallon tank means more refills on a big open floor than a 28-inch machine, ICE rates it for slopes up to 5%, and the lifetime battery coverage comes with conditions: register the machine, keep the battery in it, and charge it monthly if it sits.

Your i24YTL arrives with its lithium-ion battery installed, the on-board lithium charger, the curved squeegee assembly and two 11-inch pad drivers (ICE 9040011). ICE's matching brushes for this deck are 12-inch, so plan on 12-inch floor pads, two at a time. Pads aren't included; tell us your floor and we'll send the right ones with the machine. For grout and textured tile, ICE sells 12-inch brushes (9050012, 9050012P and the L-800 lug version 9050012U at $254.00 each).
On ICE's current parts list, the optional Center-Lok pad driver (9040011K) and the L-800 lug pad driver (9040011U) are $254.00 each, the brush drive belt (8126005) is $123.94, the brush motor kit (8160530) is $440.00, the lithium on-board charger (8160436) is $635.80 and the complete squeegee assembly (8158000) is $435.32. The Linatex squeegee blades are 8118054 front ($46.20) and 8118055 rear ($60.66); polyurethane blades for oily floors are 8118154 front ($57.40) and 8118155 rear ($73.38). Pads, brushes, pad drivers, squeegee blades, hoses, the belt and the charger are wear items.
After every shift, drain and rinse both tanks, clean the float shut-off and filter, wipe the squeegee and turn the blade if the edge is worn, then plug in the charger. There's no battery watering. Once a month, check the cables, the recovery lid seal and the brush belt. If the machine sits unused, charge the battery monthly, which ICE's lifetime battery warranty requires, and drain everything before storing it anywhere that could freeze.
