Think of a hospital, a school district or a mall at night: long corridors, a lobby, a food court, three or four people sharing one machine, and a facilities manager who wants proof in the morning that the floors were actually done. The ICE i28BTL+ is a 28-inch walk-behind floor scrubber built for that job.
It runs on a 24-volt lithium-ion battery that ICE warrants for the life of the machine, so nobody waters batteries and nobody budgets for a new set every few years. It comes standard with i-Synergy, ICE's fleet software, which records where the machine is, how long it ran and when it charged, and emails the reports to you. Operators start it with an ID card, and the traction drive does the pushing.
ICE's current manual rates it at 30,667 square feet an hour with a 26-gallon solution tank and up to 119 lb of pad pressure. Take off 30 to 50% for turns, refills and edges and you still get roughly 15,000 to 21,000 square feet an hour of real cleaning, for 3.5 to 4 hours per charge.
This is the question that decides the price, so here are the numbers. The i28BTL+ is $18,543 with the battery installed. Its sibling, the ICE i28BT, is the same 28-inch scrubber on sealed AGM batteries for $17,228. That's only $1,315 between them, and for that you get:
A battery warranted for life. ICE covers the i-Synergy lithium battery for the life of the machine against defects. AGM batteries are wear items with 1 year of labor and travel.
About 177 lb less weight. ICE's manual lists 484 lb with the lithium battery against 661 lb for the i28BT with lead batteries. That's easier on elevators, lift gates and your operators' arms.
Fleet reports and access control. i-Synergy shows run time, charging, location and confirmed clean, and the ID card means only trained people can start it.

What sells me on the i28BTL+ is the small gap to the AGM version. For about $1,315 you stop buying batteries for as long as you own the machine, you lose almost 180 lb, and you get reports that show a client or an inspector the floors were done. The 31.7-gallon recovery tank is bigger than the solution tank, so you scrub a full tank and dump once, and ICE's 5-year labor coverage is longer than anything else in the table.
Now the honest part. The squeegee is 40.5 inches wide, so it won't pass a standard 36-inch door until you pull it off (no tools needed, but plan for it). ICE's manual limits it to 5% slopes, so it's a flat-floor machine. At 3.5 to 4 hours per charge, a crew running a full 8-hour shift needs a charging break in the middle. And i-Synergy only earns its keep if somebody actually reads the reports. If price matters most, the Tornado BD 30/20 cleans a wider path for about $4,593 less.
Lithium battery warranted for life. No watering, no acid, no replacement battery budget, and 177 lb lighter than the lead acid i28BT.
i-Synergy fleet reports. Location, run time, charging time and confirmed clean, emailed daily, with fault alerts sent to ICE's service team.
ID card start. Operators swipe a card to turn it on, so the machine stays with the people you trained.
Touchscreen with one-glance icons. Heavy load, custom pattern, eco power saving, solution flow, vacuum and a run timer on a 5-inch screen.
Traction drive and three pad pressures. Up to 213 feet a minute forward or reverse, with 39, 79 or 119 lb on the pads from an electric actuator.
Cast aluminum deck, tool-free squeegee. The die-cast deck stands up to bumps, and blades, pads and brushes come off by hand.
Your i28BTL+ arrives with the lithium-ion battery already in the machine (you just plug in its connector), the on-board charger, the 40.5-inch squeegee assembly and two pad drivers (ICE 9040014) for standard 14-inch floor pads. Pads aren't included, so order a case of 14-inch pads for your floor with it. For grout and textured tile, ICE sells 14-inch brushes in medium (9050014) and soft (9050014P).
On ICE's current parts list, each pad driver and brush is $254.00, the complete squeegee assembly (8310571) is $889.82, the front Linatex blade (8310536) is $57.40 and the rear (8310535) is $76.72. Polyurethane blades for oily floors are 8310546 front ($60.66) and 8310545 rear ($98.94). A spare recovery filter (8119200) is $32.02. Pads, brushes, pad drivers, squeegee blades, hoses and the charger are wear items, so the warranty doesn't cover them.
After every shift, drain and rinse both tanks, rinse the float shut-off, wipe the squeegee and turn the blade if the edge is worn, then charge with the recovery tank propped open. Once a month, check the cables, the recovery lid seal and the grease points. If the machine sits unused, charge the lithium battery once a month, and drain everything before storing it anywhere that could freeze. Our lithium battery care guide covers charging and storage.
