It's 6 a.m. in a school or clinic, and the facilities director wants to know whether the east wing was actually scrubbed last night. With most machines, you ask the night crew and hope. The ICE i20NBTL+ is a 20-inch walk-behind floor scrubber that answers the question itself.
It comes standard with i-Synergy, ICE's fleet software, which records where the machine was, how long it ran and when it charged, then turns that into reports you can download and email. The traction drive does the pushing, the 24-volt lithium-ion battery needs no watering, and ICE warrants that battery for the life of the machine.
ICE rates it at 23,680 square feet an hour. Take off 30 to 50% for turns, refills and edges and you still get roughly 12,000 to 16,500 square feet an hour of real cleaning, for about 3 hours per charge. That's a typical night route through corridors, classrooms and lobbies on one battery.
Be honest with yourself here, because this is the question that decides the price. At $13,188, the i20NBTL+ costs about twice as much as a 20-inch traction scrubber running on lead acid batteries. What the extra money buys is three things: a battery nobody has to water or replace, proof of cleaning you can hand to a client or an inspector, and ICE's 5-year parts and labor warranty.
It pays off when the machine runs every night, when several people share it, or when you have to show a client that the floors were done. Hospitals, schools and cleaning contractors with service agreements are the usual buyers. If one person scrubs one building a few nights a week and nobody asks for reports, a lead acid machine like the Tornado BD 20/11LT or the Viper AS5160T cleans the same floor for a lot less.

The first thing you notice is the handle. There's a 5-inch touchscreen in the middle of it, with icons for eco mode, heavy scrubbing, solution flow and the vacuum, so a new operator doesn't have to learn a panel full of switches. The second thing is that you steer it rather than push it. At 330 lb with the battery, that matters by the end of a shift.
I'd point this machine at a contract cleaner running a hospital, a school district or an office portfolio, where someone upstream wants proof the floors were scrubbed. The i-Synergy reports do that job for you. Where I'd talk you out of it: a small building cleaned twice a week by the same careful person. A lead acid scrubber at half the price will serve you fine there. One more practical note: ICE's manual limits it to 5% slopes, so it's a flat-floor machine, not a ramp climber.

Your i20NBTL+ arrives with its lithium-ion battery installed, the on-board charger, the squeegee assembly and a 19-inch pad holder. It scrubs with a 20-inch pad, which isn't included, so order a case of 20-inch pads for your floor with it. For grout and textured tile, ICE sells 20-inch brushes in medium (9050020) and soft (9050020E) grades.
ICE's current parts list prices the pad holder (9040019) and each brush at $254.00, the rear Linatex squeegee blade (8118022) at $60.66 and the front blade (8118021) at $44.56. Polyurethane blades for oily floors are 8118002 rear ($73.38) and 8118001 front ($57.40). A spare recovery filter (8119200) is $32.02. Pads, brushes, pad holders, squeegee blades, hoses and the charger are wear items, so the warranty doesn't cover them.
After every shift, drain and rinse both tanks, rinse the float shut-off, wipe the squeegee and turn the blade if the edge is worn, then plug it in with the recovery tank propped open. Store it with the pad holder and squeegee raised. Once a month, check the cables, the recovery lid seal and the grease points, and charge the battery if the machine is sitting unused.
