Mosquito Backpack Vacuums

A Mosquito backpack vacuum puts the motor on your back and a light wand in your hand, so your crew cleans offices, classrooms and stairs without pushing a machine. Pick the Carbon-Lite corded in 6 or 10 quarts or the Carbon-Lite cordless 10 quart, or compare every brand among our commercial backpack vacuums.

How to Choose a Mosquito Backpack Vacuum

Corded or cordless. The corded Carbon-Lite runs as long as it stays plugged in, and its Pulse Power motor gives the highest suction lift of any Mosquito backpack motor, which helps pull embedded dirt out of carpet. The 10 quart model also works as a blower. Go cordless when the cord slows your crew down on stairs, in seating rows or around people at work. Mosquito covers the battery for 2 years and the motor for 7, so plan on a replacement battery during the life of the machine. Compare other battery models among the cordless backpack vacuums.

Tool kit and lid. The Smooth Glide kit pairs an S-bend wand with a floor tool for the usual back and forth stroke. The Sidewinder kit lets you sweep side to side while standing upright and reach under furniture and along baseboards. The standard Never-Clog hose starts at 1.5 inches and widens to a 3 inch opening at the lid, so straws and pencils pass through. The 90 degree slip fit lid swivels so you can switch hands, but Mosquito notes that long debris can catch at that bend. Choose no tool kit only if your crew already has Mosquito wands and floor tools.

Dry pickup only. Mosquito backpack vacuums are not built for liquids. For water and spills, look at the commercial wet dry vacuums. Our guide to the best backpack vacuum for commercial use compares backpacks across brands, and the full range is under commercial vacuums.

Mosquito Backpack Vacuum FAQ

What is the Mosquito Super Vac, and how is it different from the Carbon-Lite?

The Super Vac is Mosquito's Super HEPA backpack, the model the brand was built on. The difference is the motor. The Super motor is built around airflow, 152 CFM, for everyday carpet and hard floor work. The Carbon-Lite's Pulse Power motor is built around suction, with 121 inches of lift, 33 inches more than the Super, for dirt worked deep into carpet. The Carbon-Lite body also uses lighter Poly-Carbon material. Both carry the same Mosquito warranty.

What warranty comes with a Mosquito backpack vacuum?

Lifetime coverage on the body, lid and rocker switch, plus 7 years on the motor and pigtail. The cordless model's lithium battery has its own 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, and normal capacity loss is not covered. Wear is not covered either, and running the vacuum without its disposable filter bag voids the motor warranty, so keep a bag in every time. Mosquito handles claims directly and asks you to contact them before any repair.

Should I get the 6 quart or the 10 quart Carbon-Lite?

It depends on your route. Both corded sizes use the same Pulse Power motor, so the choice is capacity and size. The 10 quart holds more, so you change bags less often on long routes, and it doubles as a blower. The 6 quart is the smaller body for tight spaces and shorter routes. Whichever you pick, empty the bag before it gets close to full, because suction drops as the bag fills.
