How to Choose a Mosquito Carpet Cleaner

Spotter or 12 gallons. Start with the size of the job. The 3-Gallon spotter holds 2.9 gallons of solution, rolls on a retractable handle and weighs 25 to 28 pounds, so one person can lift it by its top handle onto stairs or into a van. It works for spills, traffic spots and upholstery between deep cleans. For whole rooms, choose one of the four 12-gallon machines, which are all portable carpet extractors that you park and work with a hose and wand. You can compare the spotter with other brands among our carpet spotters.

12-Gallon or Blue Line. Both have 12-gallon tanks, the same 120, 220 or 500 PSI pump choices and an automatic magnetic shut-off that stops the vacuum motors before liquid reaches them. The premium 12-Gallon runs two 5.7 inch two-stage vacuum motors in parallel at 120 and 220 PSI, and one larger 6.6 inch motor at 500 PSI. Its control panel adds an hour meter, a pump priming valve, a recovery rinse valve and a dual circuit indicator. The Blue Line runs a single 5.7 inch two-stage motor and leaves out the premium extras to bring the price down.

Pressure. 120 PSI covers routine carpet maintenance. 220 PSI suits most commercial carpet. 500 PSI is for heavy soil, upholstery tools and occasional hard surface work. If tile and grout is a regular job, skip ahead to the 12G-1200.

Heat and outlets. The heated 12-Gallon and Blue Line models add a 1,750 watt heater and run on two cords, and each cord needs its own circuit. Non-heated 12-Gallon models run on one cord. The heated spotter and the heated Automotive each stay on a single cord, at 1,000 and 1,200 watts. See every brand on our heated carpet extractors page.

Hard floors. The 12G-1200 reaches 1,200 PSI for tile, grout and concrete, and you can dial it down to 400 PSI to extract carpet. Its single 6.6 inch vacuum motor gives 170 inches of water lift. It has no heater, runs on two cords that draw 16 and 14 amps, and ships as the machine only, so add Mosquito's SX15 hard surface tool for floors and the hose and wand kit for carpet.

Auto detailing. The Automotive runs a 120 PSI pump and a three-stage vacuum motor with 137 inches of lift, with an optional 1,200 watt heater on one cord. It ships with 15 foot hoses and a stainless steel hand tool, ready for seats and mats. Compare other auto detailing extractors if your shop needs a smaller unit.

Send us your square footage, carpet type and how often you extract, and we will match a Mosquito machine to your work before you order. Call (855) 601-5678 or write through the contact page. If the machine still isn't right, our return policy takes it back within 30 days of receipt, unused and in new condition with all original packaging and accessories.

Mosquito Warranty and Service

Mosquito covers the body of every extractor and spotter for life and the motor and pump for 3 years. The 12G-1200 gets 5 years on its motor and pump. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, not normal wear, misuse or abuse. For a claim, contact Mosquito's customer service with photos of the serial number and the problem. Mosquito asks you to call before any repair, because work it hasn't authorized is not covered.

Other Machines for Your Carpet

For long stretches of open carpet, our self-contained carpet extractors spray and recover as you walk, with no hose to drag. Daily vacuuming comes before extraction, and the Mosquito backpack vacuums carry the same Huntington Beach build. New to extraction? Read how to use a carpet extractor before your first job.

Mosquito Carpet Extractor FAQ

Do heated Mosquito extractors need two outlets?

The heated 12-Gallon and Blue Line models do. They have two cords, and each one goes to an outlet on its own circuit. On the 12-Gallon, a dual circuit light on the control panel confirms you have it right. The non-heated 12-Gallon runs on one cord. The 12G-1200 has no heater but still runs two cords. The heated 3-Gallon spotter and the heated Automotive each run on a single cord, which makes them easy to use in older buildings.

What warranty comes with a Mosquito carpet extractor?

A lifetime warranty on the body and 3 years on the motor and pump, for the 12-Gallon, Blue Line, Automotive and 3-Gallon spotter. The 12G-1200 carries 5 years on the motor and pump. Coverage is for manufacturing defects, not normal wear. Mosquito handles claims directly and must authorize any repair in advance.

Which pressure should I choose: 120, 220 or 500 PSI?

For most commercial carpet, 220 PSI. Choose 120 PSI if you mostly do routine maintenance, and 500 PSI for heavy soil and upholstery tools. On the spotter, 55 PSI is plenty for carpet spots, while 220 PSI suits upholstery, car interiors and stubborn stains. For tile and grout every week, the 12G-1200 at up to 1,200 PSI is the right machine.

Do Mosquito extractors come with hoses and a wand?

It depends on the model. The 12-Gallon and Blue Line come as the machine only or with Mosquito's kit of 25 foot vacuum and solution hoses and a 12 inch stainless steel dual jet wand, so choose the kit unless you already own one. The 12G-1200 is sold as the machine only. The Automotive ships with 15 foot hoses and a stainless steel hand tool. The 3-Gallon spotter includes a 7 foot hose and a 4 inch hand tool with a clear view head.
