What's included with every Raven 10-Quart:

  • Raven backpack (Super, Whisper or HEPA) with cushioned harness and waist belt
  • 1.5 in static-dissipating hose, 50 ft safety cord, paper bag and washable cloth bag
  • The tools you choose above: 5-piece tool kit, power head kit, both, or machine only

The Sandia Raven 10-Quart Commercial Backpack Vacuum: Long Routes, Fewer Bag Changes

It's 9 p.m. and your crew has three floors of offices, a stairwell and a long carpeted hallway to finish before the building opens. An upright stops at every desk leg and doorway. The Sandia Raven 10-quart commercial backpack vacuum rides on the operator's back, so the wand goes under desks, along baseboards and up the stairs without anyone stopping to drag a machine.

The Super Raven moves 124 CFM with 111.2 inches of sealed lift on a 1190-watt motor. It weighs 13 lbs, holds 10 quarts in a paper micro-bag inside a washable cloth bag, and comes with a 50-foot safety cord.

Pick the model above: Super for the most suction for the money, Whisper for Sandia's 2-stage motor, or HEPA for documented air quality. Then pick your tools. The default, a Super Raven with the 5-piece tool kit, is Sandia's best-selling setup. Sandia's own setup video walks through the whole thing in under five minutes.

The Owner's Insights on the Raven 10-Quart

What I like most is how little there is to go wrong. Two lever latches hold the lid, and the static-dissipating hose threads into the lid on either side, so a left-handed operator just mounts it the other way. Sandia's setup guide says about 80% of the weight should sit on the waist belt, not the shoulders, and the belt holds the spare tools so they ride along between rooms.

It also turns into a blower. Take out the bags, move the lid to the bottom, and the same motor blows debris out of corners and entryways. Sandia builds the Raven in Huntington Beach, California, where it does final assembly, quality control and warranty service, and it stocks replacement parts in the US.

Two honest notes before you buy. It's built for dry vacuuming of carpet, hard floors and upholstery, not water. And it's corded: if outlets are the real problem on your route, the NaceCare RBV 150NX cordless backpack runs on a battery, for $697 more than our default Raven.

Why You'll Love the Raven 10-Quart Backpack Vacuum

  • 10 quarts per bag change. Two-thirds more than a 6-quart backpack, so fewer stops on long routes and big open offices.

  • 124 CFM and 111.2 inches of sealed lift on the Super and HEPA models. Sandia says the high airflow picks up more soil than a traditional upright.

  • 13 lbs on a cushioned back pad. The pad follows the curve of the back, and the shoulder straps, waist belt and chest strap spread the load.

  • Two layers of filtration. A disposable paper micro-bag sits inside a washable cloth shakeout bag. The HEPA model adds HEPA paper bags and a HEPA motor filter.

  • Left or right handed. The hose threads into either side of the twist-top lid, and its swivel cuff keeps it from kinking.

  • 50-foot safety cord with a lighted end. It plugs into a short pigtail at the machine, so a damaged cord is a cheap swap.

  • Lifetime body warranty. Plus 5 years on the motor and electrical parts.

Super, Whisper or HEPA: Which Raven Do You Need?

All three share the same 10-quart body, harness, lid, hose and 50-foot cord. The motor and the filters are the difference.

Super Raven. A 1190 W single-stage motor with 124 CFM, 111.2 inches of sealed lift and 484 air watts. It's the strongest and the lowest-priced, and the right pick for most offices, schools, hotels and churches.

Whisper Raven. A 1146 W 2-stage motor with 122 CFM, 100.4 inches of sealed lift and 447 air watts, for $34 more with the tool kit. It's Sandia's quiet Raven: every Sandia spec sheet, old and new, rates it at 61 dB. Sandia's older sheets and its training video put the Super and HEPA at 67 dB, a difference you can hear in a quiet office. The 2026 sell sheet lists a new Super motor and rates it at 61 dB too. If you vacuum around people and quiet has to be guaranteed, the Whisper is the safe pick. If not, the Super pulls harder for less.

HEPA Raven. The Super's motor with HEPA paper bags and a HEPA motor filter, for $18 more with the tool kit. Choose it for patient areas, schools with allergy plans or contracts that call for HEPA. It isn't sold as a certified hazardous-dust vacuum, so for lead, silica or asbestos work ask us for one that is.

Which Tools Should You Pick?

Every Raven ships with the hose, the 50-foot cord and a paper bag inside the cloth bag. The tools option decides what's on the end of the hose.

  • 5-Piece Standard Tool Kit. A 56-inch 2-piece aluminum wand, 14-inch scalloped floor tool, 17-inch crevice tool, 5-inch upholstery tool and 3-inch round dust brush. It covers carpet, hard floors, edges and furniture, and it's what most crews need.

  • Machine Only. No wand or tools, $120 less. For crews that already own 1.5-inch Sandia wands and tools.

  • Power Head Kit. An electric power head with its own wand and electrical fittings, for deep carpet cleaning. It adds $457 to the machine. Sandia's price guide notes the separate power head kit needs a 3-prong outlet mounted on the backpack, so if you think you'll want one later, ask us before you order a model without it.

  • Tool Kit + Power Head Kit. Both, for crews that clean carpet and hard floors on the same route.

Not sure? Tell us your floors and square footage, or call (855) 601-5678, and we'll tell you which setup to get, including when the cheapest one is enough.

Bags, Filters and Running Costs

The running cost is paper bags. The Super and Whisper use Sandia's 10-0006 micro-lined paper bags, $35 for a pack of 10. The HEPA Raven uses 10-0006-HEPA HEPA paper bags, $42 for 10.

The paper bag sits inside the washable 10-0007-10 cloth bag, which you shake out and reuse. Under the bags, the Super and Whisper have the 10-0008-B dome filter, and the HEPA Raven has the 10-0219-10-N HEPA filter, both with a bag support. Check the paper bag at the start and end of every shift and change it before it's packed full, because a full bag is where suction goes.

Raven 10-Quart vs Other Commercial Backpack Vacuums

Against the Powr-Flite Premium Comfort Pro BP10P. The same 10 quarts and about the same 13 lbs on your back, with 130 cfm, 110 inches of water lift, CRI Gold and a telescoping wand, for $143 less. The Whisper Raven is quieter (61 dB against 62 dBA), there's a HEPA model, and every Raven carries a lifetime body and 5-year motor warranty against Powr-Flite's 2 years on parts.

Against the EDIC Atlas 10 qt. Also made in the USA, lighter at 10.8 lbs, rated at 120 CFM and 110 inches of waterlift, and $194 less. The Whisper Raven is quieter (61 dB against 65 dB), and the Raven line gives you a HEPA model and a power head option.

Against the NaceCare RSV 150. The RSV 150 is the quietest backpack we carry at 52 dB(A), with a certified HEPA13 version, for $103 less. It holds 6 quarts, though. Pick the RSV for daytime cleaning around people, and the Raven when capacity and fewer bag changes matter more. Browse every option in our commercial backpack vacuums collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Super, Whisper and HEPA Raven?

All three use the same 10-quart body, harness, hose and 50 ft cord. The Super has a 1190 W single-stage motor (124 CFM, 111.2 in sealed lift). The Whisper has a 1146 W 2-stage motor (122 CFM, 100.4 in). The HEPA uses the Super's motor with HEPA paper bags and a HEPA motor filter.

Is the Whisper Raven quieter?

It's Sandia's quiet model and every Sandia spec sheet rates it at 61 dB. Sandia's older sheets and training video rate the Super and HEPA at 67 dB; the 2026 sell sheet lists a new Super motor at 61 dB. If quiet operation is a must, choose the Whisper.

What comes in the 5-piece tool kit?

Sandia's 10-0034 kit: a 56 in 2-piece 2-bend aluminum wand, 14 in scalloped floor tool, 17 in crevice tool, 5 in upholstery tool and 3 in round dust brush.

Which bags does it use?

The Super and Whisper use 10-0006 micro-lined paper bags (pack of 10). The HEPA uses 10-0006-HEPA HEPA paper bags. The paper bag sits inside the washable 10-0007-10 cloth bag on every model.

Which filter does it use?

The Super and Whisper have the 10-0008-B dome filter with bag support. The HEPA Raven has the 10-0219-10-N HEPA filter with bag support.

Can I add a power head later?

Sandia sells a separate power head kit, but its price guide notes it needs a 3-prong outlet mounted on the backpack. If you may want one, choose a power head option now or ask us first.

Can the HEPA Raven be used for lead, silica or asbestos?

It isn't sold as a certified hazardous-dust vacuum. It's for fine dust, allergens and better indoor air. For abatement work, ask us for a certified machine.

Can it be used as a blower?

Yes. Remove the bags and the foam filter, move the lid to the bottom of the vacuum and it blows air out of corners and entryways. Sandia suggests the crevice tool on the hose for the strongest air stream.

Can it pick up water?

No. The Raven is a dry vacuum for carpet, hard floors and upholstery.

Where is it made and what's the warranty?

Sandia builds it in Huntington Beach, California and labels it manufactured in the US. Warranty: limited lifetime on the body, 5 years on the motor and electrical parts, 90 days on tools and accessories, 1 year labor.
