Powr-Flite® Hybrid 3-Speed Carpet Dryer PDH1 / Deluxe PDH2, 3,400 FPM, 0.4 HP, 2.8 Amps, Stackable

The carpet crew finished extracting a hotel corridor at 10 p.m., and guests walk it at 6 a.m. The Powr-Flite Hybrid pushes air across the carpet at 3,400 feet per minute from a housing only 11.5 inches tall and about 18 lbs. Powr-Flite calls it a hybrid because it combines a squirrel cage blower design with the drying power of an axial fan.
It runs 3 speeds on just 2.8 amps, and the co-polymer polypropylene housing is tough: Powr-Flite says it survived being thrown off a three-story building. Choose the PDH1, or the Deluxe PDH2 with a kickstand, side bumpers and a built-in outlet to daisy chain up to four dryers.
Both run the same 0.4 HP motor at 3,400 FPM, with the same 2.8 amp draw, 3 speeds, 20 ft cord and warranty. The PDH2 adds positions and an outlet. Tap a picture to see it up close.

PDH1, Hybrid. Two drying positions: flat on the floor (0 degrees) and standing upright (90 degrees) to dry walls. 17.75 lbs, no outlet, so each dryer plugs into its own receptacle. Pick it if you run one or two dryers per job. $270.

PDH2, Deluxe. Adds a kickstand for a 5 degree tilt, side bumpers, and runs on its side too, for four positions. Its built-in outlet with a 9 amp breaker lets you daisy chain up to four PDH2s on a dedicated 15 amp circuit. 18 lbs, $55 more than the PDH1.
Rule of thumb: if you set up several dryers in long hallways, ballrooms or open offices where outlets are far apart, the PDH2 pays for itself. For one or two dryers at a time, the PDH1 does the job.
What I like about the Hybrid is how much air it moves for its size. At 11.5 inches tall and under 20 lbs, a tech can carry one in each hand, slide it under a table or fit several on a crowded van shelf, and 2.8 amps is gentle on hotel and office circuits.
Two honest notes. The PDH1 has no outlet, so if you run several dryers you'll be hunting for receptacles, and that's where the PDH2 earns its price. And Powr-Flite says to plug these into GFCI-protected receptacles only. For drying wet pad, subfloors or a flooded room, an axial fan like the F5 moves far more air.
3,400 FPM air velocity. A 0.4 HP motor with a 3-speed selector.
Only 2.8 amps. More dryers per circuit, fewer tripped breakers.
11.5 in tall, about 18 lbs. Powr-Flite says it weighs up to 45% less than a traditional dryer.
Durable design. Heavy-duty molded co-polymer polypropylene, backed for 5 years.
Carry handle. It doubles as a cord hook.
Stackable. Saves space in the closet and the van.
PDH2 extras. Kickstand, side bumpers and a built-in outlet to chain up to 4 dryers.
Made in the USA. Using globally sourced components.
In the picture, the PDH1 standing upright: the labels point to the durable housing, the 3,400 FPM outlet, the carry handle that doubles as a cord hook, the 3-speed selector, and its two drying positions, 0 and 90 degrees.
A good fit: carpet cleaners and custodial crews drying carpet after extraction in hotels, offices, schools and apartments, and contract cleaners who carry dryers from job to job.
Not the best fit: structural drying after a flood or a burst pipe, where a high-volume axial fan clears the room faster.
Want more velocity? The Powr-Flite Powr-Dryer runs a 1/2 HP motor at 3,800 FPM on 4.4 amps and weighs 22 lbs, for $259, or $349 with a pull handle and wheels.
Comparing chainable blowers? The Tornado Windshear Storm is also rated at 3,400 FPM and 2.8 amps, for $269, and its Deluxe version links up to five units for $299. The Tornado Windshear 3200 runs a 0.6 HP motor at 3,758 FPM for $289.
Drying a whole room after a leak? The Powr-Flite F5 axial fan moves 3,000 CFM on 2.2 amps, from $449, and the F6 Downdraft is $599.
