Clarke CarpetMaster 212, 215 and 218 Dual Motor Commercial Upright Vacuums, 12, 15 or 18 Inches

The night crew has three floors of carpeted classrooms, offices and hallways to finish before 11. The Clarke CarpetMaster 212, 215 and 218 are dual motor commercial upright vacuums built for that kind of shift: one motor for suction, a separate 350 W brush motor spinning a chevron brush at 2,800 RPM, a 50-foot safety yellow cord, and HEPA filtration standard on every size.

Pick the 12-inch 212 for classrooms and patient rooms, the 15-inch 215 for offices and corridors, or the 18-inch 218 for lobbies and big open carpet. Prices start at $902.

The Owner's Insights on the CarpetMaster 200 Series

What I like most about this vacuum is where Clarke put the weight. Most dual motor uprights hang the vacuum motor on the handle, and by the end of a shift your wrist feels it. On the CarpetMaster, the 1,000 W vacuum motor sits down in the base, so the handle stays light and the front carry handle makes it easy to lift onto a cart or up a step. The cog-style sealed belt is rated for 2 years without service, and the brush stops turning while you detail with the wand, so it doesn't wear a spot in the carpet.

Two honest limits. At 21 to 22 lbs it's no lightweight, and it's a carpet machine: on hard floors, use the wand and tools or a canister. Custodians on Reddit mention schools running the 215 as their everyday vacuum, and that's the job it was built for: carpet, every night, for years.

Why You'll Love These Dual Motor Upright Vacuums

  • Two motors, one pass. 1,350 W in total: a 1,000 W, 2-stage vacuum motor and its own 350 W brush motor. Clarke says one-pass cleaning saves up to 20% of cleaning time.

  • 92 inches of water lift, 93 cfm. Enough to pull embedded grit out of school and office carpet.

  • HEPA comes standard. A 2-ply paper bag, a motor protection filter and a HEPA exhaust filter keep the dust in the machine.

  • Quick-draw detail wand. A 4:1 stretch hose with crevice and upholstery tools stored right behind the wand.

  • Full bag and clog lights. Your crew knows when to change the bag or look for a blockage.

  • 50-foot safety yellow cord. Easy to see on the floor, with a quick cord clip and wrap on the handle.

  • Easy upkeep. The brush unlocks and pulls out without tools, and the hose comes off for quick clog checks.

  • 69 dB(A). Non-marking gray wheels and bumper protect walls and furniture.

12, 15 or 18 Inches?

All three share the same motors, bag, filters, cord and onboard tools. Width is the only choice. Tap a picture to see it up close.

Clarke CarpetMaster 212 12-inch dual motor upright vacuum

CarpetMaster 212, 12-inch. An 11.5-inch cleaning path at 21 lbs. Pick it for classrooms, patient rooms, hotel rooms and offices where furniture sits close together.

Clarke CarpetMaster 215 15-inch dual motor upright vacuum

CarpetMaster 215, 15-inch. A 14.5-inch path at 21.3 lbs, the most popular size for offices, corridors and meeting rooms. $148 more than the 212.

Clarke CarpetMaster 218 18-inch dual motor upright vacuum

CarpetMaster 218, 18-inch. A 17.5-inch path at 22 lbs, for lobbies, open offices and long hallways where fewer passes save the most time. $117 more than the 215.

Don't need the second motor? The CarpetMaster 112 and 115 single motor uprights share the same body, bags, filters and tools, with certified HEPA filtration, and the 112 costs $190 less than the 212. Not sure which fits? Tell us your room sizes and how much carpet your crew vacuums a shift, or call (855) 601-5678.

CarpetMaster or Another Commercial Upright?

Want a lighter dual motor? The NaceCare N12 and N15 weigh 15 to 16 lbs and offer a swivel neck, and the N12 costs $223 less than the 212. They have a 40-foot cord and aren't HEPA rated.

On a tight budget? The Powr-Flite Borelli Dual Pro PV160 is a 14-inch dual motor HEPA upright for $565 less than the 215. Honestly, for a small building it's a lot of vacuum for the money. The CarpetMaster earns its price with the light handle, the 50-foot cord, the stretch hose and tools on board, the 18-inch option and Nilfisk's parts network.

Stairs, auditorium seating or mixed floors? The Clarke Comfort Pak backpack goes where an upright can't. See every option in our commercial upright vacuums collection, or read our guide to the best vacuum for commercial cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the CarpetMaster 212, 215 and 218?

Only the width. The 212 cleans an 11.5-inch path, the 215 a 14.5-inch path and the 218 a 17.5-inch path. Motors, bag, filters, cord and onboard tools are the same on all three, and they weigh 21 to 22 lbs.

What's the difference between the CarpetMaster 200 and 100 series?

The 200 series (212, 215, 218) has two motors: a 1,000 W vacuum motor and a separate 350 W brush motor, and the brush stops while you use the wand. The 100 series (112, 115) uses one 1,000 W motor that drives the brush by belt, costs less and weighs about a pound less. Both share the same body, bags, filters and tools.

Is the CarpetMaster 215 a HEPA vacuum?

Yes. Every 212, 215 and 218 comes with HEPA filtration standard: a 2-ply paper bag, a motor protection filter and a HEPA exhaust filter.

Can it vacuum hard floors?

It's built for carpet. Use the wand and tools for hard floor edges and small areas. If most of your floors are hard, a canister or a backpack like the Clarke Comfort Pak is the better fit.

Which bags does it use?

Clarke paper bags 107413584, 10 bags and 2 pre-filters per pack, or the reusable cloth bag. The same bags fit every CarpetMaster 112, 115, 212, 215 and 218.

How often should I change the filters?

Change the bag when the full bag light comes on. The operator manual says to clean the motor protection pre-filter every 3rd bag and replace the exhaust filter every 4th bag. We carry the pre-filter kit and the exhaust filter.

How long is the cord, and how loud is it?

The cord is 50 feet of safety yellow 18/3 wire. Clarke rates the 200 series at 69 dB(A).

What warranty does the CarpetMaster have?

Nilfisk's current US limited warranty covers upright vacuums for 2 years on parts and 2 years on labor. The warranty PDF is in the downloads above.
