When your Clarke CA30 17E starts leaving streaks or a wet trail behind it, the squeegee blades are usually the reason. A nicked or rounded edge can't seal against the floor, so the vacuum pulls air instead of water. New blades bring back the dry, walk-on-it-now finish.
The squeegee uses two blades. The front blade (VF90103) has channels that guide the dirty solution toward the suction opening. The rear blade (VF90104) is the one that wipes the floor dry, so it wears first. Both are 730 mm (about 28.7 in) natural rubber blades, and the same pair fits the Viper AS430C.
Get More Life From the Rear Blade
Before you replace the rear blade, flip it. Clarke's manual says that when the front edge of the rear blade wears, you can turn it upside down and reinstall it, as long as the top edge is still intact. When that second edge is worn too, it's time for a new one. The front blade is replaced when it's cracked, torn or worn. Check both every week, and clean the squeegee after every use so grit doesn't chew up the edges.
Genuine Clarke part numbers. VF90103 and VF90104 are the blades listed in the CA30 17E parts manual.

How to Change the Blades
Switch the machine off. Unscrew the squeegee knobs, pull the vacuum hose off and take the squeegee off the machine. Release the clip to free the rear blade, and loosen the handle screw to free the front blade. Fit the new blade, then level the front and rear blades so both touch the floor evenly and reinstall the squeegee. The CA30 17E operator manual shows every step with drawings. Squeegee blades are wear items and aren't covered by Nilfisk's machine warranty.
