Streaks Behind Your CA60? Start With the Blades

When your Clarke CA60 starts leaving a wet trail or streaks at the edges of its path, the squeegee blades are usually the reason. A nicked or rounded edge can't seal against the floor, so the vacuum pulls air instead of water. A fresh kit brings back the dry, walk-on-it-now finish.

Each kit has a front and a rear blade sized for the CA60's 30-inch squeegee (Clarke lists them at 740 mm, about 29 in). The same kits fit all four CA60 models, the 20D, 20TD, 20B and 24B. You only choose the material.

Non-Marking or Urethane: Which Kit?

Clarke's parts list pairs the non-marking kit (VF91113) with the disc models and the urethane kit (VF91116) with the BOOST models, but both fit the same squeegee on every CA60. Urethane is the tougher material and the usual pick for kitchens, warehouses and floors that see grease, oil or heavy grit. It costs about $34 more. On smooth VCT, tile and sealed concrete cleaned with a neutral cleaner, the non-marking kit is the better value.

How to Change the Blades

Switch the machine off with the key and raise the squeegee. Pull the vacuum hose off the squeegee, loosen the two thumb nuts and take the squeegee off the machine. Swap the front and rear blades, refit the squeegee with the thumb nuts, reconnect the hose and set the squeegee pitch so the rear blade wipes evenly across the full width. Clarke's CA60 Use and Care guide shows the squeegee steps with pictures. Clean the squeegee after every shift, and flip or replace the blades when the wiping edge wears. Squeegee blades are wear items and aren't covered by Nilfisk's machine warranty.
