ICE i36BT: A 32-Inch, 36-Volt Walk-Behind Floor Scrubber for Big Floors and Tough Soil
Picture an airport concourse, a warehouse aisle or a school gym at night: wide open floor, heavy traffic soil, and one operator who has to finish before morning. A rider would do it, but it costs twice as much and won't fit the corridors. The ICE i36BT is the biggest walk-behind floor scrubber ICE makes, built for exactly that job.
The "36" is the voltage, not the width. Six 6-volt batteries feed two 16-inch brush motors across a 32-inch cleaning path, with three pad pressure settings up to about 200 lb. The 31-gallon solution tank and 31.5-gallon recovery tank mean fewer trips to the drain, the traction drive does the pushing, and ICE backs it with 5 years parts and 5 years labor.
ICE rates it at 35,000 square feet an hour. Take off 30 to 50% for turns, refills and edges and you still get roughly 17,500 to 24,500 square feet an hour of real cleaning. Order it machine only if you already stock 6-volt batteries, or with a 305 Ah lead acid or AGM battery pack ready to run.
Machine Only, Lead Acid or AGM: Which i36BT Should You Order?
All three versions are the same scrubber with the same on-board 36-volt, 25-amp charger. The only difference is what sits in the battery compartment when it arrives.
Machine only ($13,482). For fleets that already buy batteries. It takes six 6-volt deep cycle batteries of 260 Ah or more.
305 Ah lead acid ($2,173 more). The most capacity for the money and the longest runtime, but somebody has to check the water level before charging, every time.
AGM ($962 more than lead acid). Sealed and maintenance-free. ICE's AGM pack is 220 Ah, so expect a shorter shift per charge than the 305 Ah lead acid set. Pick it when several people share the machine or nobody owns battery care.

The Owner's Insights on the ICE i36BT
What sells me on the i36BT is how little you pay for the jump in size. Machine only, it's just $347 more than ICE's own 28-inch i28BT, and for that you get 4 more inches of path, a bigger solution tank, a 36-volt system and close to 200 lb of pad pressure. That pressure is what lifts ground-in soil in warehouses and entrances without a second pass. It also handles ramps up to 10%, twice what ICE allows on the i28BT.
Now the honest part. With batteries it weighs about 970 lb, so check elevator ratings and floor loads before you plan routes, and plan on a liftgate for delivery. The squeegee is 46.5 inches wide, so it won't pass a 36-inch door until you take it off (ICE sells a narrower 44.5-inch squeegee for tight aisles). The stock 12-inch transport wheels are air-filled, which rides smoothly but can go flat; foam-filled tires (ICE 8230129) are available. And if price matters most, the Tornado BD 30/20 cleans a 30-inch path for about $1,682 less.
Why You'll Love the ICE i36BT
36-volt power. Two 650-watt brush motors and a 3-stage vacuum motor run on six 6-volt batteries for 4 to 4.5 hours per charge (ICE manual, 260 Ah batteries).
Three pad pressure settings. About 90, 145 or 200 lb at the push of a button, from daily cleaning to scuffs and ground-in soil.
Balanced 31-gallon tanks. The recovery tank is slightly bigger than the solution tank, so you scrub a full tank before you dump.

What's in the Box, Pads, Parts and Care
Your i36BT arrives with the on-board charger, the 46.5-inch squeegee assembly and two gimbal-mounted pad holders (ICE 9040016) that take standard 16-inch floor pads. Pads aren't included, so order a case of 16-inch pads for your floor with it. For grout and textured tile, ICE sells 16-inch brushes in medium (9050016), soft (9050016P) and aggressive (9050016B) grades. The lead acid and AGM versions add six 6-volt batteries.
On ICE's current parts list, each pad holder and each medium or soft brush is $254.00 and the aggressive brush is $450.00. The Linatex squeegee blades for the 46.5-inch squeegee are 8230503 front ($64.16) and 8230504 rear ($86.22); polyurethane blades for oily floors are 8210516 front ($79.80) and 8210517 rear ($102.02). A spare recovery filter (8119200) is $32.02. Pads, brushes, pad holders, squeegee blades, hoses, the charger and wet or AGM batteries are wear items, so the warranty doesn't cover them.
After every shift, drain and rinse both tanks, clean the float shut-off screen and debris tray, wipe the squeegee and turn the blade if the edge is worn, then charge with the recovery tank propped open for ventilation. On lead acid batteries, check the water level before you plug in. Once a month, clean the battery tops, check the cables, the tire pressure and the recovery lid seal, and charge the batteries if the machine is sitting unused. No. The 36 stands for its 36-volt system. The i36BT cleans a 32-inch path with two 16-inch pads, and its squeegee is 46.5 inches wide. ICE no longer makes the i36BT-CY cylindrical version, so every i36BT we sell is the disc model.
Should I order the i36BT machine only, with lead acid or with AGM batteries?
Order machine only if you already buy batteries; it needs six 6-volt deep cycle batteries of 260 Ah or more. The body is 34 inches wide, but the squeegee is 46.5 inches, so it won't pass a standard 36-inch door with the squeegee on. The squeegee comes off without tools, and ICE sells a 44.5-inch narrow squeegee. It turns around in a 63-inch aisle and is rated for slopes up to 10%. With batteries it weighs about 970 lb, so check elevator ratings before planning routes.
What pads and brushes does it use?

What's the difference between the i36BT and the i28BT?
The i28BT is ICE's 28-inch, 24-volt model with 26.4 gallon tanks and up to 119 lb of pad pressure. The i36BT adds 4 inches of path, a 31-gallon solution tank, a 36-volt system, close to 200 lb of pad pressure and a 10% slope rating, for only a few hundred dollars more machine only. The i28BT is lighter and easier to fit through tight buildings.
How do I charge the batteries?
The 36-volt, 25-amp charger is on board. Park in a ventilated area, switch the machine off, check the water level if you run lead acid batteries, prop the recovery tank open and plug into a grounded outlet. The charger shuts off by itself when the batteries are full, and the machine won't run while it's charging.
What comes in the box?
