NaceCare NC 9 36" Battery Walk-Behind Sweeper with Traction Drive

It's Monday morning and the shipping aisles are covered in shrink wrap scraps, pallet splinters and the dust the forklifts kicked up all weekend. A push broom crew needs most of the shift to get through it. The NaceCare NC 9 walk behind sweeper clears a 36-inch path with twin main brooms and two side brooms, drives itself with a battery traction drive, and holds 16 gallons of debris before you empty it.
A sealed 12-volt gel battery runs it for up to 210 minutes, and NaceCare rates it at 23,620 sq ft per hour. The charger is built in, so you plug it into a wall outlet at the end of the day. At 62 dB(A) it's about as loud as normal conversation, so you can sweep while the building is open.
The traction drive is the reason to buy the NC 9. A 300 lb sweeper you have to push all day wears people out. With this one you hold the drive lever and steer, and the machine does the pulling. The two side brooms reach into corners and along racking, and the main brooms throw everything into a hopper big enough that you're not stopping every few aisles.
A few honest notes. NaceCare rates it for slopes up to 2%, so it's made for flat floors, lots and walkways, not steep loading ramps. It sweeps dry debris only, so skip puddles and wet lots. The gel battery takes about 9 hours to charge, which means an overnight charge for a full shift the next day. And at 300 lbs it ships by freight on a pallet. If you sweep under 15,000 sq ft, the smaller NC 5 or a manual sweeper will do the job for a lot less money.
Battery traction drive. Squeeze the drive lever and the NC 9 moves itself. You steer, it does the work.
36-inch sweeping path. Twin 20-inch main brooms plus two 14-inch side brooms that pull debris out of corners and along walls.
16-gallon hopper. Fewer stops to empty, even on a big warehouse floor.
Up to 210 minutes per charge. A 12 V sealed gel battery with a built-in charger that plugs into a standard outlet.
Dust stays in the machine. A filter with a built-in shaker keeps fine dust out of the air, and you shake it clean before you empty the hopper.
Simple controls. Key switch, three start buttons, a battery level indicator and an hour meter for tracking service.
Indoors and out. Sweeps hard floors, commercial carpet, parking lots and sidewalks.
NaceCare rates the NC 9 at 23,620 sq ft per hour of real sweeping, after turns and stops. Over a full 210-minute charge that works out to roughly 80,000 sq ft, about the size of a mid-sized distribution center.
Compare that with a push broom, where one person typically covers a few thousand square feet an hour. On a 40,000 sq ft warehouse, the NC 9 turns a full day of sweeping into under two hours.
To get the full runtime, charge it fully after every use and don't let the battery sit flat. Shake the filter before you empty the hopper, and check the brooms for wrapped string or strapping, which is the most common reason a sweeper starts leaving a trail.
The NC 9 costs $7,595. You're paying for the traction drive, the 16-gallon hopper and the 3.5-hour runtime. Here's how it stacks up against the other walk-behind sweepers we sell, so you can pick the one that fits your floor.
Smaller building or tighter budget? The NaceCare NC 5 has a 26-inch path, one side broom and a 10-gallon hopper, and you push it. It costs $1,800 less.
Same 36-inch path for less. The Powr-Flite PS900BC is also self-propelled with a 36-inch path, a 13-gallon hopper and up to 3 hours of runtime, for $3,946 less. The NC 9 gives you the bigger hopper and a little more runtime.
Wider path. The Tornado Torrent 43 sweeps 43 inches with a 17-gallon hopper and runs about 2.5 hours, for $596 less. Pick it for wide open floors, and the NC 9 for longer runs between charges.
No power needed? The NaceCare NC 4 is a 32-inch manual sweeper with dust control, at $1,549. Compare them all in our floor sweepers collection, or call (855) 601-5678 and tell us your square footage. We'll point you to the right one.
