Think of a school wing, a clinic, a grocery aisle or a string of offices: too much floor for a mop, too many doors and corners for a big machine. That's the job of a 20-inch walk-behind floor scrubber, and the ICE i20YT is ICE's traction-drive answer in its new Y series.
The traction drive moves the machine forward and in reverse, so your operator steers instead of pushing 441 lb. It scrubs with up to 99 lb of pad pressure on a magnetic pad driver, carries a 16-gallon solution tank and a 17-gallon recovery tank, and runs on a 24-volt lead acid or AGM battery pack charged by the on-board charger. ICE backs it with 5 years parts and 5 years labor.
ICE rates it at 24,000 square feet an hour and about 3 hours per charge. Take off 30 to 50% for turns, refills and edges and you still get roughly 12,000 to 16,800 square feet an hour of real cleaning, enough for a typical night route through corridors, classrooms and lobbies.
Both versions are the same scrubber with the same on-board charger and the same 24-volt, 150 Ah battery capacity. The only difference is the type of battery that arrives installed.
Lead acid ($8,588). The lowest price to get running. Somebody has to check the water level before charging, every time, and keep the battery tops clean.
AGM ($1,028 more). Sealed and maintenance-free: no watering, no acid spills. Pick it when several people share the machine or nobody owns battery care.

The Y series is ICE taking complexity out. Fewer parts, a simpler console and a magnetic pad driver that snaps on instead of twisting onto lugs, so training a new operator and changing pads take less time. What ICE kept is what matters on the floor: a die-cast aluminum scrub deck, rotationally molded tanks and close to 100 lb of pad pressure, about double most 20-inch machines. That pressure is what takes scuffs and ground-in soil off in one pass.
Now the honest part. If price is what matters most, the Clarke CA60 20TD with wet batteries costs about $965 less, and the Viper AS5160T and Tornado BD 20/11LT start lower still if you supply batteries. What the extra money buys here is the pad pressure, a slightly bigger recovery tank and ICE's 5-year labor coverage, which none of them match. Two practical notes: ICE rates the i20YT for slopes up to 5%, so it's a flat-floor machine, not a ramp climber, and at 441 lb with batteries it ships by freight.
Traction drive, forward and reverse. The machine moves itself, so your operator only steers, even with full tanks.
Up to 99 lb of pad pressure. About double the other machines in the table above, from daily cleaning to scuffs and ground-in soil.
Magnetic pad driver. Pads and brushes go on and off without fighting lugs, and the die-cast aluminum deck won't rust or crack.
16 and 17 gallon tanks. The recovery tank is bigger than the solution tank, so you scrub a full tank before you dump.
Curved 31.5-inch squeegee. Picks up clean in turns, and with a 22-inch body it passes a standard 36-inch door, squeegee and all.
Two-stage vacuum and 68 dB(A). Strong water pickup that's still quiet enough for daytime cleaning in schools, clinics and stores.
Your i20YT arrives with its lead acid or AGM batteries installed, the on-board charger, the curved squeegee assembly and a magnetic pad driver (ICE 9042020) that takes standard 20-inch floor pads. Pads aren't included, so order a case of 20-inch pads for your floor with it. For grout and textured tile, ICE sells magnetic 20-inch brushes (9052020, 9052020E and 9052020P).
On ICE's current parts list, the magnetic pad driver and each magnetic brush are $254.00 and the complete squeegee assembly (8158000) is $435.32. The Linatex squeegee blades are 8118054 front ($46.20) and 8118055 rear ($60.66); polyurethane blades for oily floors are 8118154 front ($57.40) and 8118155 rear ($73.38). Pads, brushes, pad drivers, squeegee blades, hoses, the charger and wet or AGM batteries are wear items, so the warranty doesn't cover them.
After every shift, drain and rinse both tanks, clean the float shut-off and filter, wipe the squeegee and turn the blade if the edge is worn, then charge with the recovery tank propped open for ventilation. On lead acid batteries, check the water level before you plug in. Once a month, clean the battery tops, check the cables and the recovery lid seal, and charge the batteries if the machine is sitting unused. Drain everything before storing it anywhere that could freeze.
