The NaceCare ProVac PPR 380 / PPR 390: Henry's Motor in a 4-Gallon Commercial Canister

Halfway down the third floor, the bag is full again. On a long route, a small canister turns into a stop-and-empty routine, and every stop costs you minutes you don't have. The NaceCare ProVac PPR 380 commercial canister vacuum carries a 4-gallon structural foam tank, so one person covers more floor before stopping.

Inside is the same motor that made the Henry famous: 680 watts, rated for more than 2,250 hours, with 120 cfm of airflow, 100 inches of water lift and 84% soil recovery. It filters down to 0.3 micron at 99.97% efficiency, which meets the HEPA spec for non-hazardous dust, and it runs at just 49 dB(A).

Pick the PPR 390 and the same vacuum rides on a trolley, with a telescopic handle and a storage caddy for spray bottles, cloths and spare bags. It becomes a small mobile work station for one person doing a whole floor.

The Owner's Insights on the PPR 380 and PPR 390

I think of these as the Henry for bigger buildings. The motor, filter, bags and tool kits are the same, so if your crew already knows a Henry, there's nothing to learn. What changes is the tank. At 4 gallons it holds a lot more than the Henry's 2.5, and the structural foam body shrugs off being knocked into door frames all night.

The PPR 390 is the one I'd pick for hotels and housekeeping carts, where the operator is also dusting and restocking. The PPR 380 suits schools, offices and contractors who load it into a van. One honest note: both are dry vacuums only. And for a single office suite, the lighter Henry is the better buy.

Why You'll Love the ProVac 4-Gallon Canister Vacuum

  • 4-gallon structural foam tank. Fewer stops to empty on long routes, and a body built to take knocks.

  • 680 W motor, 2,250+ hours, 5-year motor warranty. It uses 43% less energy than 1,200-watt canisters, according to NaceCare.

  • 49 dB(A). Normal conversation runs around 60 dB, so you can vacuum hallways and lobbies while people are around.

  • HEPA-grade filtration. 0.3 micron at 99.97% with the HepaFlo bag, so dust ends up in the bag and not back in the air.

  • 84% soil recovery. More soil out of the carpet, which helps it last longer between extractions.

  • 33-foot cord with crank rewind and quick-change plug. A cut cord unplugs from the machine and a new one plugs straight in.

  • PPR 390 trolley and caddy. A telescopic handle for rolling between rooms and onboard storage for tools and supplies.

  • CRI approved and LEED-EB compliant. It fits green cleaning programs and contracts that ask for them.

PPR 380 or PPR 390?

Same motor, same 4-gallon tank, same filtration. The PPR 390 adds the trolley with a telescopic handle and the storage caddy, weighs 19 lbs instead of 18 and costs $100 more with the AST2 kit.

Choose the PPR 390 if one person vacuums and also carries spray bottles, cloths and liners from room to room, as in hotels, dorms and senior living. Choose the PPR 380 if the vacuum travels on its own, gets lifted into a van or lives in a janitor closet next to a separate cart. The PPR 390 comes with the AST2, AST6 or AST8 kit. For the air-driven power head or the battery power brush, pick the PPR 380.

Which Tool Kit Should You Pick?

Every kit includes a 9-foot hose. The rest decides what touches the floor. Tap a picture to see the kit up close.

PPR 380 with the AST2 kit: hose, telescopic wand and 12-inch combo floor tool

AST2, 12-inch combo floor tool. The standard kit, with a 3-piece stainless steel telescopic wand. Good on mixed carpet and hard floors. PPR 380 or PPR 390.

PPR 380 with the AST3 air-driven power head kit

AST3, air-driven power head. A turbine brush driven by the vacuum's own airflow, no extra cord, for $50 more. Better grit pickup on carpet. PPR 380 only.

PPR 380 with the AST6 15-inch carpet productivity kit

AST6, 15-inch carpet kit. A wide carpet tool with a telescopic wand and two straight wands, for covering open carpeted floors faster. PPR 380 or PPR 390.

PPR 380 with the AST8 15-inch hard floor kit

AST8, 15-inch hard floor kit. A wide Sidewinder hard floor tool with a telescopic wand and two straight wands, for long VCT and tile corridors. PPR 380 or PPR 390.

PPR 380 with the 13-inch battery power brush

13-inch battery power brush. A motorized brush with its own 24-volt lithium power wand and a fast charger in the box, up to 50 minutes per charge, CRI Gold approved on NaceCare's electric canisters. It's $400 more than the AST2 and the right pick when most of your floor is carpet. PPR 380 only.

Send us your floor types and square footage, or call (855) 601-5678, and we'll tell you which model and kit fit, including when the smaller Henry is enough.

How Much Floor Does the PPR 380 Clean Per Hour?

NaceCare rates both models at 6,000 square feet an hour. After 30% to 50% for furniture, edges and emptying, plan on roughly 3,000 to 4,200 square feet an hour. That's a 15,000 square foot school wing in about 3.5 to 5 hours, with fewer stops than a 2.5-gallon canister.

Bags are the running cost. Both models take NVM 2BH HepaFlo bags, which NaceCare lists at $35 for a 10-pack. Stick with them: using the vacuum bagless or with another brand's bag cuts the motor warranty from 5 years to 2.

ProVac PPR 380 / 390 vs the Henry PPR 240

The NaceCare Henry PPR 240 has the same motor and filtration in a 2.5-gallon polypropylene tank, weighs 15 lbs and costs $100 less than the PPR 380. It's the better fit for single buildings and stairs. The PPR 380 and 390 earn their place on long routes where the bag fills before the shift ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the PPR 380 and the PPR 390?

Same 680 W motor, same 4-gallon structural foam tank and same filtration. The PPR 390 adds a trolley with a telescopic handle and a storage caddy for tools and supplies, and weighs 19 lbs instead of 18. It costs $100 more with the AST2 kit. The PPR 390 comes with the AST2, AST6 or AST8 kit; the air-driven power head and battery power brush versions are PPR 380 only.

How is the PPR 380 different from the Henry PPR 240?

The motor, filtration and tool kits are the same. The PPR 380 has a 4-gallon structural foam tank instead of the Henry's 2.5-gallon polypropylene tank, so it needs emptying less often on long routes. It weighs 18 lbs to the Henry's 15.

What comes with each tool kit?

Every kit includes a 9-foot hose. AST2 adds a 12-inch combo floor tool and a 3-piece stainless steel telescopic wand. AST3 adds an air-driven power head and the telescopic wand. AST6 adds a 15-inch carpet productivity tool, a telescopic wand and two straight wands. AST8 adds a 15-inch Sidewinder hard floor tool, a telescopic wand and two straight wands. The battery power brush option adds NaceCare's 13-inch brush with its own 24-volt lithium power wand and a fast charger.

Which bags does it use?

NVM 2BH HepaFlo bags (part 604016, pack of 10) for both the PPR 380 and PPR 390. Stick with NaceCare HepaFlo bags: using the vacuum bagless or with another brand's bag cuts the motor warranty from 5 years to 2.

Is it a HEPA vacuum?

It filters to 0.3 micron at 99.97% efficiency, which NaceCare says meets the HEPA spec for non-hazardous recovery. It's made for everyday commercial dust, not hazardous material like lead, silica or mold remediation.

How loud is it?

49 dB(A), quieter than normal conversation at around 60 dB, so it works in occupied offices, hotel corridors and classrooms.

Can it pick up water?

No. Both models are dry vacuums only.

What warranty does it have?

Under NaceCare's 2025 US warranty chart for canister vacuums: 10 years on the polyethylene and structural foam body, 5 years on the motor when used with NaceCare HepaFlo bags (2 years otherwise), and 2 years on switches, electrical parts and labor.
